Leaves a message for someone I don't know stating she is location specialist in reference to a pending claim and by law is making me aware that once this claim is filed it will be public record of both my name and social.  That I need to contact the filing party before she appears at both my home and job with documents.  The she says to call number 866-790-0331 and good luck and you have been notified.

Personal information such as Social Security numbers are redacted by the court and they are not made public.

One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them so that they can scare that person into paying extortion money.  They will usually also state information that would be illegal for a real debt collector to state to department and tell them that you are a deadbeat who does not pay their bills. They often call people that have never even been a third party such as that you are being sued, that you owe money to someone, etc. They threaten that if you do not call them back, they will contact your HR associated with you because they get erroneous information off the internet.

The fake process server/location finder extortion SCAM usually consists of the following:

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency. They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer). They threaten to serve you at home or at work. They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work. They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID. None of which is true. Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them. Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else. They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”. Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time. Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter, email, or text (postmarked in the case of a letter) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. Unless they have communicated it to you verbally at the beginning of your conversation. It also must contain the “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this communication must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that communication you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Previously got a call from a blocked number, recording stating his name is Tom Hindley with a process service and instructing me to call 855-994-0876 to avoid them showing up at my job or home. Today, I received a call from 877-415-0717 with the same recording. Only this time the recording says 'we haven't received any change information so if you don't call, we'll see you soon'.

I received the first call on Tuesday 09/05/2023 at 4:04 est. it came through as No Caller ID/unknown. I only answered because I was waiting for an important call and I didn’t know what number it would be. A dude spoke and he did not identify me or himself at all. He simply stated that there are legal documents that someone will be delivering to my home or office. He stated it will be within 24-48 hours. If at anytime in 24-48 hours I would not be available I am to call and set up a time with them. I disconnected the call because I knew it was a scam. He didn’t even ask my name. Debt collectors start out the conversation with my name and then proceed to identify themselves and who they are calling on behalf of. I received a text message at 4:11 pm est the same day from my ex husband. He messaged: “ I just got a voicemail for you on my phone about someone dropping off legal paperwork to you or something like that?” And “ They left phone number to get a hold of them and you have to do something within 48 hours? Do you need to hear this message?” I explained I did not it was a scam and I was fine and to ignore it. He and I have been divorced for 10 years and some change. My last name has been my birth name, my fathers given last name for 10 years. So they are throwing back and trying really hard to earn their income by stealing mine. I messaged my mother immediately because I knew she would panic if a stranger calls says my name and the word legal. I live 5 states away from her so she will only hear danger and I didn’t want them to take advantage of her and the love she has for her daughter. Wednesday 09/07/2023 at 2:43 pm est my sister messaged me and says: “ There is some place trying to get ahold of you for paperwork 1-833-887-1418” I tell her it is a scam and they have contacted me and my ex. She says: “ Oh, okay. Just thought it was strange, thought maybe I was some alternate contact you had listed for something”  I told her to ignore it. She says: “ I don't remember,  pretty sure he said his name, but there was no company name, but how would he know that we are related? Oh your name was in the voice mail I got” I did ask if the guy left his name or a number and she says: “ I don't remember,  pretty sure he said his name, but there was no company name, but how would he know that we are related? Oh your name was in the voice mail I got” and “ Alright. I got 2 VM's but I just listened to it today and it said your name so I was concerned you were in some sort of trouble” she thanked me for letting her know so she wouldn’t worry. Wednesday at 7:45pm est my mom messages me. They have now called her and left a VM and sent her a text message 2 different times. Wednesday 09/06/2023 at 10:49 am est he called again and left a VM. I was working and did not know or had even listen to the message until that evening. The vm: “ Wendy _____ this is Tom Hanley giving a second call back in regards to legal notices that were sent over yesterday as of today we have not received a change submitted so we are under the Sumption (assumption) you'll be home to completed schedule delivery will take place tomorrow at the residence or work place early afternoon what will do is the reach of contact to the sender's office where it's coming from therefore again if there's any time restraints or collections with the timeframe early afternoon you have to contact that filing party to see if there's an option to reschedule at this time that number supported is 1-833-887-1418 this will be second notification for scheduling delivery of legal paperwork out to the home or workplace tomorrow thank you…” The number came up as unknown but I was able to see the number he called from #833-887-2428. I decided to call the number he provided in the VM. #833-887-1428 and it rang and sent me to a VM with a female voice. The recording said thank you for calling KPS Consulting please leave a message with your name, case number and phone number and we will return your call. I thought the message said KP Asset Consulting just a sec of it wasn’t perfectly clear. So I started to research and it has landed me here. As I am creating this message he has called my ex husband again and now me. He (my ex) said “. It's not a he it's a freaking recording I talked right over the recording and it didn't say anything back. It's definitely a scam I didn't really listen to what they were saying because it doesn't matter it's a total scam call“ and “ I wouldn't worry about anything actually happening to you it's just annoying for people it'll go away eventually I wouldn't put too much into it”. My VM says “ “_____________ this is Tom Hanley giving a heads up call before we leave the office today will be scheduled delivery date to sign for legal notices that were sent over as of today again we have not received a change or anything submitted so we are under the suction you will be available to complete now I'm not home early afternoon today you will be marked down as a direct refusal also gonna be ________ __ order a second temple we place down to the workplace immediately after only if we were unsuccessful ____ the home and cannot locate you know what we'll do is _____ reach a contact to that ______'s office that way if you're not gonna be home today you have limited time to get us a fax or something sent over so we can get you off ___ schedule that number again supported is 1-833-887-1418 if we do not receive a change will be out later on today thank you…” I know this is a scam but I do find it humorous that he is going to go to my workplace directly after if I am not home. They didn’t even take the time to actually see where I work. BECAUSE I work from home. The recording in the beginning he says my first and last name and then when it goes on into the rest of the message there is an undeniable difference in the voices. It sounds like they have taken a VM  from an actual processor but make a recording to switch up the name. The guys name, phone numbers and the  recordings on all the VM’s that is not a live person calling are all the exact same with me and my 3 family members they rudely involved in this. They called my mom several time and text her with the motive to scare her about her daughter. That is absolutely disrespectful and disgusting. Thankfully I am not in any legal trouble but what if I was? Or the people they have already called and will eventually call that does have some legality issues. They might get to steal their income because of panic and fear they are successfully creating. I had an IRS issue due to depending on a popular tax company to complete their job correctly but failing. I had it cleared up and all paid. Shortly after I got hit was an IRS live person scammer. I was hysterical and crying because he said I would go to jail if I didn’t pay all this money. I immediately call my dad and he told me it was a scam. I did contact the guy who helped me sort the tax issue and let him know. That was probably 10 years ago. I pray this helps an endless number of people.

I received a call from the above number two days ago and was fool enough to answer it. Some snidely sounding man (or so I thought) began making some kind of threat about some claim against me and how I needed to reply soon or something would be made public record. They called again today under a "private number" which I did not answer. I immediately checked my VM and Mr. Snidely left another rude threatening scam message. OK-game on. I called the previous number and got the name of the offending company, then immediately hung up. I googled the number with the scammers name (probably fake) and got this website where I confirmed that it was all indeed one huge scam. The caller is probably not real, but a recording. I hope the law catches up with these horrid criminals and gives them all long prison sentences. Many scams come from outside of the USA, so I suppose they think they are immune to any prosecution. Good luck, scammer.
