    dont call my relatives!
That number called my parents house which use to be my grandma's house and they were looking for my husband. Yeah lots of people might owe debts so how are you supposed to determine if its a scam or not? I'm not calling and giving out our phone number so they can start harassing us especially all of the sudden. We've always had forwarding addresses whenever we've moved so if they can't spent postage to mail him something at each last known address directly after he didn't pay a bill and owed someone money then that's their fault. If so, I know nothing about what he owes. I'm only aware of certain things he owes but if he doesn't tell me something then, can't help him there then but wont put up with being harassed when this is my phone not his. They haven't called us yet, just my parents but if they find my cell # somehow then we're next.....

Did they give u an extension to call a number back on? Or did they just flat out call your own phone, you answered and they told you that you owed something and have a summons for you? Did they even tell you what you owed it to/from,how long ago it was from,(Cuz you gotta know its something old) and have they even contacted you through the mail? Sorry for the questions, but I'm just curious and know how these people do things. Who knows, this page could really be a scam by them. How do I or we even know that any of the other posts on here aren't Fake ones from their company just to get us to type info??? Weird. I just thought of that so I understand if you don't respond even tho I'm not asking for personal info, just wanting to know if they asked any of those things. If to see if any were similar with our call. Sorry so long :) p.s. hope none of us get anymore calls!

I too received a voicemail from this company.. I called it back and the company states they are World Group.. they are a collection agency.. The debt they referred to, I actually did have back in 2007.  Although they said they cannot provide me with any documentation on it only if I want to go to court then they will serve me papers and the charges were "intent to defraud a financial institution" it was for a loan, i can honestly not remember if I paid it off or if it was included in my banko that I filed after that. Try and get the name of the company they say you owe it too then call them directly about it..also check out the statute of limitations in your state for such debts.

no they did not give and extension, I did not answer since I was at work they left me a message.  It sounds very shady, I received another call from them today (3rd one) from a restricted # again, this time she left her name and a different phone # to call back and said since I didn't respond to the messages she left before they were going to have to send it out to my address and I would miss my court date.  If a case was filed against me I highly doubt that I would receive a phone call telling me to come and pick up a summons, just seems weird to me.

Actually, any such call would be a scam, no matter what they are or are not asking for, or who they call.  In the US, process servers don't call first (don't want you running away) so there would be your first hint.    As the Federal Laws are quite clear on pretty much every step to be taken, either follow them or kiss any payments goodbye.  So they wouldn't BEGIN threatening to sue you; according to those same laws, the only time they can say they are going to is when they actually are, not as some sort of leverage to get you to pay up or else.  Who know, your post could be a scam, too.  As could mine; but mine is based on laws that can be found at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf   and
    http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtml

These are just common, everyday extortion attempts, and this has been going around for years.  Another thing you might check is the links down the sides of this website regarding these things.  Very interesting reading with hthousands of numbers these phony callks come from.

    So, thee you have it.
