A Mariah Williams called claiming to be with DDS (Document Delivery Services?) and they have some papers they need to deliver and me to sign for. They wanted to know what time I was going to be in the office. At this point, I started telling her not to call here (my work phone) and she continued to talk over me. I hung up on her. She called back, this time asking for my boss. Another worker got her and took a message. She was asking for the office address and stuff. If I was getting "served" they would just show up. Not call. And they would certainly know where I worked already. So I'm sure this is a scam or a bill collector. It should be illegal for them to harass like this. The number she gave me coworker was 877-430-2861 and she gave a "case number" I'm supposed to refer to when I call back

We just had a similar issue saying we should have been served already, they are calling about a $200 credit card from over 10yrs ago! saying we need to pay over $500 to settle. They called my job as well, it's a scam! And they had to call back to give info. They are claiming to be a law office in Dallas, X

I too got a phone call from the DDS as well asking if I was going to be home between the hours of 3-7pm tonight. I was given the same number and was told I was being served for malicious deceit of a financial institution, and a couple of other legal terms. This debt is over 13 years old. I was also told they could attach a lien against my bank account, my car, and had all sorts of personal information i.e. credit card numbers, social security numbers.
I live in Texas. Is this some sort of big scam? Can my bank account be garnished?

I had a message to call 877 430-2861. A very rude person who did not want to answer my questions did, and said she was from the Counsel Firm at 29910 Murrieta Hot Springs Road Suite G336, Murrieta, CA 92563 and that she worked in the Law and Ligation Office. She asked for me by my maiden name and said she was trying to serve me with legal papers. If I did not cooperate I would have to go to court. And, she could tell me nothing about what or why. She said the papers would be delivered to my last known address, which is in a state where I had not lived since I was a toddler. I told her since she had my address to go ahead and deliver them and then hung-up. I suspected this must be a scam.

ditto for me too. Lady called and gave bogus "case #" and talked about Old Debt from many years ago. She didnt give me their company name or any info where they are located. Figured this is a crazy debt collection agency as they are many more now. She wouldnt give me any specifics of said debt. They called 2 times and havent called back since.

Same companies just a different phone number.

Only  a judge can issue an order for garnishment.  Garnishments are strictly limited and some states do not allow them.   This is an tempt to scare some money out of you.  Ignore and block the calls.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking),  the only thing they understand.
