It's American Express collection agency. Even if your account has been "Charged Off" on your credit report they will continue to try and contact you for collections.

I got this information from the rep calling when they asked for the individual that previously had this telephone number (4 years ago), I asked to have number removed today from all call list and that I wanted to send written info and please give me an address, above is what was given to me.

American Express does have a collection department but they will sell these accounts to Nationwide Credit, NCO, GC Services, as these are just a few. Actually this number - 877-424-3248 belongs to Nationwide Credit in Kenesaw, Ga (sp?)
Nationwide Credit has a very long history of deceipt. If you get a call that says AMEX EXPRESS, it is not AMEX. They are vioating HR 2158 of the Telecommunications Act/Caller ID spoofing outlawed by Congress. Please refer to the FTC.GOV website for other violations and file a complaint. You can also file a complaint with American Express in New York, to Ken Chenult CEO. I also believe that they are violation Copyright laws by using the American Express logo. (Not sure on this one)
Do not give out personal info, bank info, SSN #, NOTHING. Send a Cease and Desist letter with a request for COMPLETE and TOTAL VALIDATION Also, research Nationwide Complaint history. BE AWARE. RECORD CALLS BUT CHECK STATE LAWS FIRST.

these sad people just called me on a holiday.  Pathetic and probably not legal.

i have my cell phone set so that my phone does not ring if the calling number is not in my phone.  When this number calls it shows up as a missed call and voicemail, but they never leave a message.  I am on every DO NOT CALL list that exists, and if this truly is American Express, I have NEVER had one of their cards.

deny that they are actually a collection agency calling on behalf of American Express.

I haven't had an AMEX in years so I have no idea why I'm being called, except perhaps...

Before being redirected to an Atlanta insurance agent for a free quote by a company called First Quote Health at 858-926-1709, that switchboard operator asked for my phone number as part of a standard questionnaire.  I never put my number anywhere, in any field, on any form, on the internet.  Within an hour my phone went haywire and I the first two days alone I've blocked all these calls (and texts):

The calls continue, unabated.  From everything I've read it will be easier to change my number than to continue dealing with this, and that's what I intend to do.

EVERYONE READING THIS SHOULD CONTACT FIRST QUOTE HEALTH AT 858-926-1709 FROM AN UNIDENTIFIABLE NUMBER AND COMPLAIN!

Ignore the calls from this number. People are posting that it is Am Express.  I do not have an Am Express account, nor do I owe on anything else.

Thank you! I do not have an American Express account so I did not know why they might be calling me. Now that I know it may be a phishing scheme I feel relieved.

At least they should leave a message. Just blocked them.

Calls to my cell, no message, multi Times per week. Suspect scam caller.

I have no amex card or account so I don’t  understand why I get these calls.

A man with a thick Indian accent called and asked for me but only claimed he was from American Express and could not discuss the matter until he verified my information. A real AmEx rep would at least say this is regarding your account ending in XYZ.... Loudly told the gentleman to have a nice day, I guess it’s back to not answering unknown numbers!

It has to be a scam.  We both have American express for over 20 years, and pay off the whole balance each month.  They are spoofing a number.  Block or don't answer.

I have never had a am AMEX card and didn't answer numbers I don't no. I write number down and GOGGLE number to find out who called and make the determination to delete or call back. I seldom call thos SCAM back.
