    The only thing strange is you posting that "something'", that we have to use our imaginations to figure out, is "based in Wi." and that could be anything.

    I did what you should have done in the first place and that is to find out who might have called from this number. I found this recorded message:

    Sounds authentic, but scammers can also be very convincing they are the real Bank or Fraud Company hired by a Bank. It is always best to call the number on the back of the card.

    Stated we had a debit card that is now on hold due to fraudulent activity. We do not have a BMO debit card

    This message was left through our business phone, which I thought was extremely odd and a red flag. Why wouldn't they call my cell phone listed on the account if there was a problem. I didn't call it back, I instead called my local branch. She informed me that everything was OK regarding my debt card.

    This number is part of a scam attached to the "FREE MESSAGE" alleged to be from my bank. The text messages I pre-authorized to receive from the bank will never say they will call you. If you answer the text in any way, the scammer calls you. The bank will NEVER call you in response to a text message, even if it is valid text. That they will call you is a dead giveaway this is a scammer.

    Is this number used for bmo? I received it and called it. Then I called the bank  number as well   and it came in a text.

    Sometimes banks use third party security firms and the number from which they call might not correspond to the known bank numbers.  However, it is always best to call the number on your bank card instead.  If there is a security problem the bank will have that information.  Numbers can be spoofed.  Better safe than sorry. :-)
