Be Safe, Not Sorry
Rather than believe the posts in this thread, or the words of an anonymous caller,
if you are notified of a problem with your card,
CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD
Even though the number in this thread might belong to your card issuer, the scammers can easily spoof what appears on your CallerID, and attempt to get your precious ID and card data!
Be Safe, Not Sorry!
CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD - zThe caller claims to be Citibank. They call from multiple numbers (TX, TN, MO, KS, etc). The message that is left some times directs you to logon to your myhomedepot.com account to check for important messages. I called my actual Citibank tollfree number & they claimed they had NO record that would indicate that they are robocalling my phone. They also contacted someone from Home Depot (who they provide financial services for the credit card that HD offers to it's customers) and Home Depot representative indicated that they also have no record of why my phone should be robocalled. I then called the apparently bogus citibank robocaller & spoke to someone in their 'customer service' to request them to remove my phone number from their robocaller & they demanded that I provide them with my citi/home depot credit card account number (which I refused to give to them). Then I was told that they can't help me if I don't provide them with my credit card account number. I told them they don't need ANY credit card information to purge my number from their system & the 'customer service' person hung up on me. So, yeah, they are scammers, imo. They appear to be phishing for account & likely password information for citibank credit card account. My advice is to permanently block ALL calls from 877-437-1985!

Please realize that:
» Your post here will NOT stop the calls. We did not call you. Your caller probably does not read these messages. We cannot block calls to you. We cannot put you on or take you off the list. We do not know who you are, and we do not know your phone number!Click_This_Line_for_Info_About_the_DNC_ListThe National Do Not Call list is respected by legitimate telemarketers, but is ignored by criminal telescammers.
Surveys, charities, political calls, NON-sales calls and certain preexisting business calls are exempt from the DNCL.
Business phones do not qualify for DNCL protection.Click_This_Line_for_Info_About_800Notes_PurposeFind out who is calling and why: Debt collectors, telemarketers, charities, and survey companies often call without leaving a message. Lookup the number to read the previous reports of other users.
Report telemarketing calls: Make the Do Not Call list offenders notice the problem by reporting their practices. No business wants bad publicity.
Report phone fraud: Did someone try to scam you? Reporting the number is the fastest way to make public aware, and prevent others from falling victim to the scam.
Check out a business: Read other users' feedback about the phone number owner.
»YOU are your own best defense against unwanted calls! You can use a call blocking app, device, service or procedure to block such calls.Click_This_Line_for_Methods_to_Block_CallsHere are some tried and true methods for reducing or eliminating repeated spam / scam phone calls:
1. Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail. Many telescammers hang up after three or four rings.
2. If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free call blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.
3. If your cell is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group". Assign the scammer's phone number to that group. Also assign a "silent ring" to that group. You will not hear future calls from that number.
3a. Alternately, assign a "silent ringtone" as the DEFAULT ringtone. Then, assign your favorite ringtones to friends, family, contacts, businesses, etc. That way, you will not hear your phone ring, even if the scammer changes numbers! (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers, so be careful!)
4. For cell phones or landlines: Contact your phone service provider. They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.
5. For landlines: there are several call blocking devices and services available. Use your favorite search engine to find one.
6. DO NOT call unknown numbers back without checking who called (800notes is your friend)! All that does is verify your number is "live". Instead, read this:
