I have received several rude messages from Bruce Brown with DAI. "I have left numerous messages and I can't believe that I have not heard back from anyone yet." He does not give a reason for his call. He continues to leave only his name, phone number and DAI (not sure what that is).

I agree with the above.  I received a call as well and found Mr. Bruce Brown to be unbelievably rude because I did not embrace his product.

We have received daily calls from "Bruce Brown" from DAI, he says that it is for Yellow Page ads, I checked him out here so have not taken his calls but our receptionist has been fielding his calls.  He claimed today that I had called him because there was a problem with the ad.  He even called back after hanging up to say it was pathetic that I hadn't returned his calls.

Received a call from Bruce Brown from DAI on 10:15 AM on 8-25-09 from a "private" number (coward) which is 877-451-1738. This guy is selling yellow pages ads and NOT FROM AT&T.  He is **VERY** rude.  I told him we were not interested.  He continued to press his sales pitch. When I informed him that we've received a number of contacts from so called yellow pages advertisers and that most were scams he got irate stating "how dare you say I'm a scam".  I just hung up.  THIS GUY is a A$$. DO NOT TALK TO THIS GUY.  HE IS RUDE, INSULTING, AND A SCAM.

WARNING-there are a lot of scam yellow pages out there.

These "complainants" seem more than a little suspect.  Indeed, "Richard" from "Columbia" claims Mr. Brown called him from a "private" number.  He even called him a coward for doing so!  Yet, "Richard" miraculously was able quote the number Mr. Brown called from even when Richard, himself, said it came across as a "private" number.  The "scam", Richard, is you.

Looks like "Richard" could be involved with yellow page sales trying to prevent you from saving money.  Here is a test:  Richard- why don't you tell everyone your phone number?  Let's see if that is real or not!  Bet it's not!

My experience with Mr. Brown has been very good.  I also know that he as worked to save others a ton of money.  Now wonder certain yellow page folks are afraid of his services.  Nice try Richard, or whatever your real name is!

I guess these ARTICLE posted right here on 800notes about the Yellow Pages Scams are nothing but BS too??

FTC Sues to Halt "Yellow Pages" Business Directory Scams

    4 Jun 2009
The Federal Trade Commission has filed suit to halt the illegal operations of several telemarketing boiler rooms in Montreal, Canada. The agency alleged that the telemarketers bilked thousands of small- and medium-sized U.S. businesses and non-profits, including churches, schools, and charities, out of millions of dollars by deceiving them into paying for listings they never ordered in worthless business directories.

Free Listing at Yellow Pages:  This scam targets businesses. The caller says that he is from Yellow Pages and is calling to update their records. He proceeds by asking to confirm some basic information such as owner’s name, business phone number, address, and company name. Then they start billing the victim and only then the business owner realizes that it’s not a free listing and it was not Yellow Pages directory that called.
The victims report that when they call to complain, the company plays the recorded conversation with the victim saying 'Yes' except that the caller is reading from a completely different script. The scammers replace one side of the conversation, making it sound as if the business owner agreed to a paid listing and a monthly fee.

Or even this other article on 800notes is BS too??
The FTC lawsuits, filed in federal court in Illinois, are part of a joint initiative with Canadian law enforcement authorities called 'Operation Mirage' that is aimed at cracking down on business directory scams. The FTC charged that the three telemarketing operations targeted businesses and other organizations with schemes to mislead them into paying hundreds of dollars each for unwanted business directory listings. The court has issued temporary restraining orders in the three cases.

In their phone calls to businesses and non-profits, the telemarketers often have posed as well-known local 'yellow pages' directories, and have told employees who answer the phone that they are calling to verify addresses and telephone numbers, the FTC's complaints stated. The telemarketers then used the 'verifications' as the basis to claim that these organizations agreed to listings that often cost $400 or more.

The FTC alleged that the companies then sent their victims invoices that again often imply that they are well-known yellow-pages companies. Many businesses and organizations simply paid these invoices. Those that did not were harassed with threatening phone calls and letters. To hide their location, the companies have used mailing addresses around the United States, in Miami; Phoenix; Plattsburgh, New York; Port Barre, Louisiana; Russell, Illinois; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Jersey City, New Jersey, the FTC alleged.

The complaints were filed against Reed Publishing, National Yellow Pages Online LLC, Integration Media Inc., doing business as GoAm Media, and others as well as their operators.

The Commission is seeking permanent injunctions that would force the defendants to give up their ill-gotten gains so that those funds can be used for consumer redress.

On a side note, last year GoAm Media wrote to us and threatened to sue 800Notes.com for the posts published at 866-697-0539 & 888-401-3843 stating that "...the statements made in the Blog asserting that the GOAM MEDIA is a 'scam' constitute defamation against the Company.GOAM MEDIA is legitimately formed and engaged in the lawful business of selling advertisements in business directories and is in good standing with all authorities."

Thank you all for posting your information!!  I also received calls from a Bruce Brown of DAI with a very short non-informative voicemail.  In 2008, he called and threatened me as well stating I’d be loosing money for my financial institution and then went so far as say our institution would see the same demise as Wachovia because of my decisions.  I stated that I highly doubted that my decision on directories would affect us, he yelled at me further and hung up on me.

Now I've received another voice mail from him this year (2009). Thankfully I did a google search and found your posts to remind me it was the same person.  I plan to remind him of our conversation last year do him the same favor by hanging up on him.  We'll be sharing this in our department as a warning too.

Thanks again for making me not feel alone in this situation.

Way to go and try to correct the damage you've done by being incredibly rude to potential clients 'Concerned aboug "Scams"' (or should we say Mr. Brown since that's likely who posted this).

It appears there are more compliants that happy clients.. Why?  Because a happy client would never search for a phone number to report, only the person that is responsible for the action would come out and make a positive comment.

Boy am I glad I came across this site.  You guys are great.  Yes I, too, received the infamous call from Bruce Brown.  How he got past my front desk must have been one heck of a story.  So I called back and got "directory assistance, please leave a message".  Then I found this site.  Sure enough, he called back.  Returning my call since it had come up on his caller ID.  Yes he was rude.  I never got a sales pitch.

Bruce Brown has been attempting to contact this office for over two weeks, and leaving ambiguous messages such as: " This is Bruce Brown from DAI, would you please, please, please call me back", or "I've left several message, please call me, I'll talk to you soon." In none of his messages did he leave a reason for his call only his "stalking" type message.

After he left more than 8 messages in less than a week,  I finally called back to tell him to stop calling.  Again, he made no move to tell me what company, product or service he was representing, even after I told him that if he wanted to leave effective messages, he needed to include that detail in his messages. He was very rude, and indicated "he was not trying to hurt anyone in life".

He is inappropriate and unprofessional to say the least. His calls as well as his mannerism really bothered. An employee hearing my frustration suggested I google his number and I was relieved and even more bothered to have seen all of these messages. His actions  goes back from at least 2008 until current date that I can see. Beware this number and this individual. I wish there was a mechanism where we could report this further in an attempt to stop this behavior.

The number IS private, BUT when you take a message from Bruce Brown he gives you the number...if you call the number sometimes you get a message that says "directory assistance", I think it is safe to assume DAI stands for Directory Assistance Inc.

From your reply, it kinda looks like you may actually be "Bruce Brown"...cause everybody else knows hes an [***] and its all a scam.
The other yellow pages are reliable resources, they are books that get results...thats why businesses use them as opposed to the second and third tier books and community books...which are a waste of money.

Bruce calls here atleast once a month, I always laugh at him due to his greeting and lack of professionalism over the phone: "Is 'Boss's first name' there??? Put him on the phone!" LOL!!!!
"Whats so funny? Tell me, I wanna laugh too!"...."well Bruce, its your lack of professionalism, private number and overall jerky attitude *click*"

But since today, getting his phone number, I plan to call Bruce several times a week as a form of stress relief...and I encourage everybody else to do the same! So if you have had a bad day, or whatever, just call Bruce and release it all unto him. Enjoy!

    Tired of his scams...
BEWARE...he tried to tell our employees that the owner of our company had contacted him, and wanted their approval to "go ahead with the ads, as we had left messages on his voice mail saying to "run the ads".

Typical scam artist...tried to pressure people into running advertising that likely is never even printed, i notice the

The company name is Directory Assistants...here is a link to their website, so you know who to call to file a complaint, because the number HE gives is one that bypasses the supervisors:

Frank!!!!  You are my newest and "bestest" friend now.  I have been thinking of buying an auto dialer to call this jerk several thousand times a day.  I am in the process of finding which rock he lives under.  Also, these complaints go back of several years.  Drop a call to the Attorney Generals office in your state.  I am filing a complaint.

I also received a phone call from this Bruce Brown today at my office. He called and asked who was responsible for the advertising in our office because he had noticed our yellow page ad and wanted to speak with whoever is responsible for the advertising in our office and I told him that that would be me. He asked for my name. Didn't tell him, as the phone number came up blocked so I asked for his, Bruce Brown. Mr. Brown, what company are you with? DAI. Then he asked me once again who he was speaking with and I told him that we have received multiple calles regarding our yellow page ad in the past and that we contract with the local phonebook, so please take me off your calling list and he said f*** you, you stupid b***h and hung up on me.
This gentleman was completely unprofessional and our office would never advertise with a company that treats their customers in such a disrespectful manner. Oh and I called our advertising company immediately after the conversation to give them the helpful information you all provided on this post. Thank you! Now hopefully this guy will stop calling me
