- Karen Hitchcock"Dion" of Bank of America left a message on my answering machine asking me to call back about possible fraudulent activity on my business credit card account (ending in "3751"-which is not my account #). To call "877-451-4602".

- Annoyed with loosers like these peopleThis is a fraud... don't listen to these fake posts. I contacted the FTC. They pretend to be with BofA. I called them twice and both times they gave me different information about the company.

- John| 2 repliesI'm in NY on business and BofA put a hold on my corp card. After some communication with my company finance people, it was still unresolved (had my card declined again). The P-Card representative at my company had told me that BofA would be calling me. Later that evening, I got a call from an unknown number who left a message identifying themselves as the Bank of America fraud department, providing the last four digits of my corp card # and requesting that I call them back at the number above.
I did call them back, and they did indeed ask me for the full credit card number, which struck me as kind of sketchy, and I said so, but given the fact that I'd been told to expect a call, I went ahead. They asked me several pieces of information to verify the card, but nothing about my personal finances (which would be a red flag for a corp card). Nor did they ask for the expiration date or the CVV2 number, which both would have been questionable.
Once done, they started listing off correct recent charges from my account for me to verify. One charge I was unsure of they waited for me to look up just to give them a solid "yes," which doesn't sound like the activity of a fraudster.
That's it. I'll repost if it turns out that I was expertly gamed, but I don't think so. Luckily it's not my credit rating at stake.
In response to some of the fear uncertainty and doubt above, I might add that:
1. Bank of America has bought a lot of companies in the last few years, so you might have a BofA card and not know it until your previous card expires and you see a new logo. If they correctly identified you, that is.
2. It's always possible for them to have a wrong phone number associated with a legitimate account -- and their call script obviously involves asking for the full card number, so I'm not surprised by "Wrong Number"'s story above.
3. Different people in a phone bank telling you different answers to the same question isn't always suspicious, it's actually virtually guaranteed given how well people are paid/trained for these positions.
But, I could be wrong, and if I am, I'll repost. Best of luck, all.- Caller: Bank of America

- JohnRe: my previous post, this was indeed totally legit.
- Pensacola replies to JohnYou sound like you may be supporting the scam. Maybe your in on it.
- ham4funInaudible account information which didn't sound professional, then the message to call this number. I eventually found the account that they called about. Since this card is seldom used and the two charges for just under $200 were on line and truly fradulent. They caught the charges and denied them. There was a charge the previous month for $.01, probably to test to see if the account was open and good. Instead of calling the above number, just call the number on the back of your credit card to save yourself the worry.
You will also know for sure when your card is declined :)- Caller: unknown, but was part of BofA Business

- 1-877-451-4602| 1 replyThis is a legitimate phone number for Bank of America cc Fraud Dept. I called the 800# on the back of my card and they verified that it was one of their numbers.
- sue replies to 1-877-451-4602I received an automated call asking me to call this number about a possibly fraudulent charge on my business credit card. I called the number and she started asking questions that made me uncomfortable, so she suggested that I call the number on the back of my credit card. I called that number and asked if the 877 number was legitimate. I was told it is a Bank of America fraud department number. He suggested it is always a good idea to call the number showing on the back of your card to be sure you're dealing with the correct company. My problem was resolved easily.
- StevenIt's real...happened to me today. I had my CFO call and check 'em out.

- Smart OneGot a Call from them, said I was not sure that you are who you say you are, they said, cool call the number on the back of the card. BoA Gave me the 877-451-4602 to call and transfered me there. So hey, call me a fake post, but really, just call the number on your card and things will be all good.

- FDV replies to Gost Rider| 1 replyI just received a call originally from a number in Delaware, but my voicemail had this 877 number to call back re potential fraudulent charges on my BoA MasterCard and that they had put a hold on my card till I resolved this. I first did a Google and found these responses which only had me a bit more concerned because none of us knows who's posting these messages like me. So instead of calling the number that was left I called the 800 number on the back of my card, and after I typed in my card number, it went right to BoA's fraud department verifying that in fact that other call was legit. I did not have any problem, but they wanted to make sure that my charge yesterday was made by me. I was quite grateful that they have this monitoring system. I was impressed with their automation that clearly knew when I typed in my card number that I was inquiring about this concern with fraudulent charges.
- BofAreceived a call from newward DE this morning. Said there is a possibly fraudulent charge on my business credit card.

- RReceived a call about fraud on my account. I returned the call and spoke to a person that wanted to first verify my account. He asked for full card number, authorization number on back, full ss#, address of mailing, home address, etc. I refused to give my social, or the number on the back of the card. It was getting rediculous. The representative wasn't friendly either. He then told me about a fruadulent charge to an online retailer. I hadn't used the card for years. He told me he would suspend the account and send me a new card. I called Bank of america, which told me that the call was legitimate and the number was their fraud prevention department. I gave them the number which they verified to be their fraud department's direct line.

- MTReceived a call from a "PRIVATE NUMBER" according to caller id. Usually a telemarketer but this time a message was left indicating the call was from FRAUD dept of BOA and to call 877-451-4602 about my business card. I called the number on back of the card instead - they verified that the number is a legit number to Bank of America. The customer service person then proceeded to confirm activity on my card. The card number was used in a state I have not been to. I appreciate the notice and service on this. I still recommend to call the number on back of your card instead - do not take chances.
