The vague scare tactic message is designed to panic a victim into calling back.

Most debt collectors will use a certain amount of pressure to convince you to pay the debt. After all, they often don't get paid unless you pay. Be suspicious of a debt collector who uses an unusual amount of pressure to get you to pay immediately, particularly if they also use scare tactics to get you to pay right away. For example, a debt collector is scamming you if it :
    • threatens you with a lawsuit and tells that you can avoid the lawsuit by paying right away
    • Says a Process Server  or Courier is coming with papers to sign
    • Threatens to call / go to your place of employment
    • Insists you have been notified, served or are non-compliant via phone message(s)
    • Refuses to give a company name or verifiable Contact source
    • Refuses to send proof of debt via US mail

A sure sign of a debt collection scam is a collector that wants to you to pay via wire transfer or another method that can't be traced. If the payment method can't be traced, you'll have a harder time getting the authorities involved.

If the creditor sounds completely foreign, or you know you never had an account with that business, there's a chance it's a scam. Never pay a collection you don't recognize. You have the right to request written proof of the debt from the debt collector before you send payment.

I have had  voice mails from a local # 724-235-9729, but I cannot find a business attached to this #. The voice mail stressed it was important I call concerning my file # & that I was being notified in accordance with state & federal regulations. It did not state a debt collector, but the above post leads me to believe it may be. The message instructed me to contact GIS at 877-463-1332. When I called, msg stated Global International Services & no one could take my call & asked me to leave a message - I did not. I am employed as a collections rep & am aware of FDCPA regs. I have not received any written notice of anything from the company & definitely do not appreciate the scare tactics they use.

This company has called multiple extentions at my work and left robo messages saying i needed to contact them before they proceed with court action. I refuse to call them back. I don't have any outstanding debt and I believe it's an attempt to collect more information. It's really embarrassing that they are leaving these messages on my coworkers voicemails as well... This has to be illegal???

these people have been calling my place of employment non stop for two weeks now and i cannot get them to stop.  They have threatened to serve me papers at work and refuse to send me proof of the debt claiming they've tried several times already.  Not the case!

Repeatedly calling with threat for legal action. I know I am not being sought for any reason! You cannot accept thieves calling via a fake machine voice. Come on now. If you know no one has a reason to be after you, why entertain this scare tactic. Check the number out on the internet.

I received the same call and mssg.
Someone needs to go after whomever this phone number is registered under, and charge them with harassment, and anything else which fits.
Every phone number has to be registered under an individual or a company, so it should not be impossible to find out just who this is.

The caller ID showed up as 724-235-6729. Automated message vaguely describes being notified, etc. Tells you to call back at the 1877-463-1332.

Calls and states that I am officially being  notified of a claim against me.  I am not stupid. Notifications such as legal actions must be delivered, not robocalled.

These people called my phone back-to-back twice and when I called the number back, a man answered saying “Global international services” to which I hung up. I had just used my bank card for a few purchases and thought it was maybe my bank calling to verify transactions.
