Gentlemen called (with a Indian accent) allegedly from directv stating a promotion of 59.99 a month for two years and all premium channels sponsored by Amazon since they are promoting their gift cards. All one has to do is purchase 240 in Amazon e gift card to prepay the direct tv billing department for the first four months. I was to also receive a 100 visa gift card from Amazon once this was done.

So I called DirecTV 800-531-5000 back to see if this was true and of course it's a SCAM. I would have been out $240.00.

A guy called from the actual direct tv phone number and gave me a promo code to get a special package price on 2 years of movie channels if I paid two months up front.  The only way to pay for it was an amazon gift card and to call this other number to give payment, thankfully I saw this post and didn't lose $120 bucks but I did report them to direct tv.

I received almost exactly the same call as Shannon, but on 2/18/17.  I listened, but was not going to take any action until I spoke with DirecTV and was relatively certain it was a hoax anyway.  Thanks for having it posted.
