AT&T Collections either landline or internet--- the collection company sends automated messages to let you know to call them back to figure out payments for you account. Its Eos-CCA (the name of collection agency) They are a credit reporting agency...if you can't get through to the 877 # you may want to try there main line and get a human to transfer you to the correct department ( main # is 800-700-0220) They are located in Chicago, IL :) Hope this helped! It really is a real company, I was on the phone with at&t three wayed with them (b.c i was supposed to have a credit on my acct) They deleted the acct while i was on the phone and it was deleted off my credit report within 30days...So I was impressed!

When I dialed a 1 before the 877, no one answered. When I dialed it straight, I got an answer. They contacted me looking for info on a family member, which is a violation of federal law. They would not divulge who they were or why they wanted the info, and eventually hung up on me. Kinda funny that a collection agency hung up on me, and not vice versa.

    annoyed
I called this number back and was hung upon 3 times when I asked who they are. I finally spoke to a supervisor and after about 5 minuets she let the name of her company slip out and I found out they are a collection agency looking for my dead mother-in-law who has passed away in 1995. She gave me a website www.cca/us.com but I couldn't find anything.

    i'm the wrong person
This is a number for EOSCCA
calling for a person who does not live at my address.  They seem to be a collections agency (web search)  I was prompted to press 2 if the caller was not here - well that didn't work, because I got at least 10 phone calls per day for several weeks.  Finally, I accepted the call, was put on HOLD while a rep was connected, and I set them strait.  very very rude.

Michigan unemployment is 14%, so when i tell the agency there is no work they tell me to borrow or pawn the few things i have left. Get real. maybe if they would accept small payments but they won't.

    furious
for the past 3 days the phone constantly rings from the number 877-477-0202. when i called the number back today a young man answered asking for my aunt. he said this call is an emergency (not solicitation and NOT a bill collector!) I started getting worried because my aunt is in kidney failure. I asked repeatedly who the hell he was and what company he was calling from, finally he said EOSCCA...so I looked it up on the internet and landed here....it's unreal how people are so desperate to collect money from those who are ill, or dying or even dead...i mean WTF????
Let the call me again....it wont be a good day for the representative or the company!

Say's that company is a collects company. I informed him that the company name should appear on caller id. he was going to transfer me to his manager and he hung up.  When I called back the person did not answer. That number calls relatives and asks information regarding me.  I owe nothing. Last week I had a credit report done and I am clean.  I want these calls to stop and fraud.  We as tax payers need out privacy.  That guy should get a life.

This company keeps leaving voice mail and when I called back 3 times, I had to wait for at least 15 mins hoping that someone will answer the phone.  I wasted my time calling them back.

    A Collection Agent May Not…

Here are the top 11 actions prohibited by the The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act:

    Misrepresent Him or Herself

A debt collector may not misrepresent himself as an attorney or law enforcement officer.

Use the Telephone to Annoy or Harass

A collection agent may not cause a telephone to ring or engage any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with an intent to annoy, abuse, or harass anyone at the called number.

    Threaten Arrest or Lawsuit

A collection agent may not threaten a consumer with arrest. It may not threaten legal action that is either not permitted or not actually contemplated. In other words, a the threat of a lawsuit may be an empty one.

    Use Abusive or Threatening Language

A debt collector may no use abusive or profane language in the course of communication related to the debt.

    Publish a Bad Debt List

Publishing the consumer’s name or address on a "bad debt" list is prohibited.

    Contact By Embarrassing Media

A debt collector may not communicate with a consumer by post card. It may not use any language or symbol, other than the debt collector’s address, on any envelope when communicating with a consumer by use of the mails or by telegram. A debt collector may use its business name if such name does not indicate it is in the debt collection business.

    Contact a Consumer at Work

A collection agent may not communicate with consumers at their place of employment after being told this is unacceptable or prohibited by the employer.

    Communicate With Third Parties

A debt collector may not reveal or discuss the nature of a consumer’s debts with third parties other than the consumer’s spouse or attorney. A collection agent may contact neighbors or co-workers only to obtain location information. It may contact a third party again if it has reason to believe the information the party provided previously is false.

    Bills.com FDCPA FAQ

Below are questions Bills.com readers ask frequently:

Can a Collection Agent Call My Cell Phone?

Yes. However, if you tell the debt collector it may not use that number because it is a cell phone, it may not contact you again at that number.

I Keep Receiving Dozens of Calls From Collection Agents. Is That Legal?

No. Unscrupulous collection agents will use "block parties" or "office parties" where they contact a consumer, multiple neighbors, or co-workers telling them they need to reach the consumer on an urgent matter. This is not permitted under the FDCPA.

A Collector Says I Will Be Arrested if I Do Not Pay

This was a true statement before the US Civil War, but has not been true since. People may be arrested if an aggressive judge files a bench warrant for a person who does not appear at a hearing relating to a lawsuit regarding a debt. However, in that case, the offense is the failure to respond to a court order, and not the existence of the debt. As stated above, it is illegal under the FDCPA to threaten a consumer with arrest if the consumer does not pay the debt.
