They left a message about action that will be taken against someone in my family who has the last name of the message but not the right first name.  They called about a year ago with the same type of message.

They called my husband with the same info...law office trying to find family member using our phone #...2nd call in 2 years,  same m.o. to our same cell #...very suspicious considering said family member never had that cell # given to them...

I got a call from someone saying there was a "civil litigation" suit filed against me. I told them I had no idea what they were talking about and was directed to call 877-481-9766. When I called that number (long story short) I was told they buy old debts and the claim is closed and I should wait for the summons. Called the original number back (the one that said they wanted to serve me) and it was a voice message that said I should call the number I was given with my account number. I filed a complaint with the CFBC. Called the CFBC to follow up and they said they couldn't find the "company" but would do their best. The 877 number is connected to "Delbert Acquisition and Recovery" and when I called after hours the message says "DAR and Associates" and NO one was willing to tell me where the "civil litigation" was filed. I called every court in my city and county and here is nothing filed against me. I am SURE this is a company that buys old debt. If that is the case, the debt is over 20 years old. When I told them that the response was "there is not a limitation to the debt" and OMG. LIARS! PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT! Take these jerks down.

Same thing happened to me this morning, stating they were in attorneys office, Delbert acquisition company,  they called and gave me another number to call and gave me a reference number when I called them they put me through to somebody else saying that there was a lawsuit against me and that I was going to be served a summons to appear in court for A debt dating back to 2010. 😳
I told them I had no idea what they were even talking about they said I would be receiving paperwork in the mail trying to hit me for over $4000 on a supposed $2422 debt??? They said I would be on the hook for attorneys fees. And that if I did not respond that I would receive a summons to appear in court. Not sure what to do I am on Social Security disability.

I received the same call a year ago but just a different company calling. I told him this was resolved a couple years already. They requested I fax a document so I will not receive another call! So if I do this, will I receive another call next year?!?

You may never return to see this reply but it will benefit others searching for this number so here goes:
YOU don't have to prove you paid the debt. THEY have to prove you owe it. And yes, they will likely keep calling you because they're scammers who don't care if you already paid the debt. They just want to harass you into paying THEM. Just block and ignore their calls.

Addendum: Phone calls, faxes, texts, and emails are NOT legal methods of debt validation. Only documentation sent via US mail.
