this number keeps calling and when you answer they hang up. They call about 5 or 6 times a day and it is getting annoying,

Caller left voice mail message identifying their employer as a debt collector but did not identify the name of the firm.  Since I have no debt and have never defaulted on any debt or been legally responsible for the debt of any who did, I can only assume they are fishing for information.

The call multiple times a day - including before 9:00 a.m. and after 9:00 p.m. local time.

Frustrated

After having received numerous phone calls between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm for over a week, I called the number left on my voicemail together with a code.  When the calls are received, the callers name is not disclosed by CallerID or by the recorded message.

When I called an automatic voice response system answered "Allied Interstate", when I entered the code number left on my voicemail, I received a response giving the name of the individual about whom they said they were calling.  The name was one about which I was contacted by another debt collector months ago and to which I wrote a certified letter informing the firm I did not know the subject, was not related to the subject, had no legal responsibility for debts of the subject, and instructing them to cease and desist from calling - the prior firm did.  Now Allied Interstate is calling about that same unknown subject.

When informed of the name of the subject, the voice response system gave to choices "press 1 if your are xxxx (the subjects name)" or "press 2 if you are not xxxx".  Upon pressing 2, I was connected with an employee who identified himself as a Mr. Chopra and said he would remove my from their phone number database.   We'll see.

A search of the Web will disclose numerous bad practices have been alleged by Allied Interstate.

CALLS DAILY NO MESSAGES LEFT WANT THIS TO STOP

Received automated call at 9:49 PM 1/30/12.  No name on caller ID. Stated they were
debt collector but did not give name of person in arrears.  I am totally debt free and resent this
late night call.

It is a message wanting me to call this number back with a referance number. They call every morning.

I get a call from this number once per day between 9:00 and 10:00am. I am on the Do Not Call list, but they insist on calling me anyway. This is getting irritating.

got same message about debt collection as above with reference code to call a number back.  No debt so I ignored.  If it starts happening on a regular basis I will take some action but not there yet.

This number has called every day for the past 4 days at 0645 in the morning!!  I am registered with theh Do Not Call Registry, but these people do not care.  Have NEVER been sent to a collection agency!!  These calls are an invasion of my privacy, and very upsetting.  We all know what it's like to get a call at odd hours, especially when you've been awakened from a deep sleep, you think a family member has been hurt and/or in the hospital.

This # appears on my caller ID. I don't know them, I don't answer the phone, they don't leave a message. I guess what they wanted to tell me was not that important now was it?

Take me off of your calling list.

This is a debt collection company. I will never pay these [***] what I owe - manely because the debt is 12 years old and cannot be enforced anymore. So glad I am not from india

Allied Interstate Collection Agency looking for someone by same last name.   This is one of many agencies that continue to call us for this individual.   Finding that I have to tell each collection agency numerous times to stop calling us because that person is not here.

I think you are correct in saying that they are calling individuals because of their last name. They're basically fishing, as per the other poster said. Theres not much else we can all do untill law enforcement with the DA's office gets involved. Am not even sure where these clowns are calling from. But I think a class action law suit is in order at this point and basically someone should step up and slap these people with that lawsuit.

Debt collector makes sense. They seemingly called about father, who died in 2008 (broke, with no estate), but butchered his name so badly -- just giving his first and middle in broken English -- that I was no incorrect in saying I don't know who they were calling about.
