- Robert| 1 replyIt's Bank of America - Chances are that your payment is late.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Call type: Debt collector
- DJ| 2 repliesGot a fraudulent phishing call from 877-498-0338. I called and the first thing they ask for is your account number or social security number. Hey (Scumbags from 877-498-0338) if you're reading - go get a real job like the people you prey on. To the potential victims - it's sophisticated - complete with BOA recording and call center sounds in background. Have no fear. Disregard them. They will someday crumble before Jesus.
- ess replies to RobertI doubt it; I've never given BOA permission to call or text me.
- ess replies to DJ| 1 replyJust got the same thing. Annoying as hell, although I don't get much textspam on my phone. They've been blocked.
- ess replies to essForgot to add that my text said it was from "FIA Card Services," which does appear to have a "real" website, but I've never heard of them and it's likely a scam....
- Nice TryGot same text from "354-22" saying "(Free MSG) Please call FIA Card Services regarding a servicing matter at 1-877-498-0338 by 11pm ET today. Reply STOP to end texts."
So after reading all comments above, I replied "STOP" and was sent the following text:
"Free msg: You have opted out of this text alert with Bank of America Mortgage Notifications. For help please contact 1-800-604-9961 or support@varolii.com"
I am 100% NOT a Bank of America customer. Zero accounts with them. I am also forwarding this to Bank of America and FTC.- Caller: FIA Card Services or Bank of America Mortgage

"(Free MSG) Please call FIA Card Services regarding a servicing matter at 1-877-498-0338 by 11pm ET today. Reply STOP to end texts."
It's a fraud line.- Caller: FIA CARD SERVICES
- Boston - MasSame here...
- Actually| 1 replySo I assumed this was crap, a text asking I call "FIA Card Services" with this number. But after looking at this page and seeing the Bank of America reference above, I went and checked my account there -- and they asked me to verify phone information. It asked me to consent to texts from this same "354-22." Turned out my credit card was overdue, and I didn't realize it.
I wouldn't respond to the text for many obvious reasons, but as unbelievable as this sounds, it's probably worth the 10 minutes to safely check on things some other way.- Caller: ?
- Not buying it.I got a text from "FIA" once in July and once again today. I have never replied and there has never been a notification from any of my banks related to this text. DONT REPLY, PROBABLY PHISHING.
- Caller: FIA
- Call type: Text message
- APhishing scam, most likely. I am a BofA customer, so I thought the text alert was maybe legit. I called the real number on the back of my card though, to check and see if there really was an alert. Nope. Was transferred to the fraud division and the lady who assisted me said 877-498-0338 is NOT a real Bank of America number. Called the -0338 number from a different line that's not connected to my account just to see. Of course, they ask you to enter your entire account number, whereas the real BofA just asked for the last 4 digits.
- Caller: Phishing scam
- Call type: Text message
- LJR replies to RichardDefinitely FRAUD. They ask for Credit Card Number, Mother's maiden name AND three digit security code. You answer and you just gave them all the info that they need to commit credit card fraud. Always call the number on the back of your card never one that comes by phone, email or text!!!!!
- Jay PaulGot the same text. I replied, "I am an American in Nigeria, but have access to a large sum of money. If you are able to wire me a small sum of money to verify your account, I will wire your portion of this large sum of money."
- ozDefinitely FRAUD. Please delete fraud message immediately after you received it. Please Do not text back or make any calls to 1877-498--0338.
