This just called me saying I owe a payday loan if I don't pay it within the next 3-5 business day they will charge me with 4 counts n go to jail like WTF

Outlawing Firms/Agency who utilize this "skip tracing" method to find and serve THEIR problematic customers should be outlawed!!

I was just called on my wireless phone that I've had for over 11 years, the number came up as "Unknown." A lady leaves me a message stating the msg was for "Shelliah Colton", ....no where near my name. States she was going to serve a warrant for a judgement, and to call 1-877-498-1496 with a case number. The first call went to a guy stating he couldn't find this case#. I called back, got transferred to some "Legal Team" who found this case, he asked if I still lived in IN. I told him I have NEVER lived in IN ..not ever. I did inform him that 8 years ago some lady's address showed up on my credit report out of IN but I had it removed/disputed with all 3 bureaus. He said we ll yeah we skip traced and sometimes the names/address will end up on the same report.

I told him my name was NOT what the lady left on my vm. I asked him to remove my wireless phone and told them to contact the POLICE to find who ever this other lady is that obviously can't pay her f&*#*^g bills, otherwise she would not be dodging them. I asked him again how he got my number. He says they didn't have a new address or phone number for this person... So I guess these ppl will pick a number out of the sky and start harrassing folks!   This is making very nervous, I think I will get LifeLock at this point. Someone how this is the 2nd time I've been contacted with regards to this fraudulent person.

I totally agree, they called me too, had the wrong person, wrong name.Never even heard of them.

I RECIEVED A CALL TODAY STATING THEY WORK AT THE LIASONS OFFICE AND IS GOING TO COME TO MY RESIDENCE REGARDING A LAWSUIT WITH MY NAME AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER.  THEY TOLD ME TO GO ONLINE AND SEE WHAT THIS LAWSUIT IS ABOUT.  I HAVE NO WEBSITE TO GO TO TO ENTER A CASE NUMBER.
I WOULD APRECIATE IT IF THEY WOULD LEAVE ME ALONE.

I have been receiving phone calls from an UNKNOWN number for a couple of days and finally today the person left a message on my phone saying that they were calling in regards to a debt via my name and social security number. So I decided to call back this number to find out what this "debt" was.

I called and Sierra Legal Services was the company that was given. They said that they had an old debt (9 years old) from a check/pay day loan place that I defaulted on and because I supposedly had closed my account within 2 weeks of taking out the loan, I was going to be charged with "malicious intent to fraud" and that my bill was over $500. They tried to get me to say that I closed the account and that I was trying to not pay the bill.

Of course, I was super stressed about because...helll.....9 years ago!?!? Hell, I can't remember yesterday. Once I calmed down and did some research, in the state of WA they can only attempt to collect the debt for 6 years and you cannot be sued for fraud in most cases because of something like this. Anyways.
I hung up and shortly thereafter I received another UNKNOWN call and they left a message for a different person about the same thing! What the heck?

I got call yesterday showed up as unknown. Man left message for crn assts ro call this number back. He said I owed money for a payday loan from 2006 that I paid off in may 2012. He said they were coming to my address to charge me with maliciously closing account with bad check. The previous collection agency was goldman schwartz, now shut down. The steve bell I talked to today said he has never heard of any kind of scam thing like this and this NEVER happens. So I found out goldman schwartz is bs scam and it sounds like crn is too

Just received a phone number twice from an Unknown number.  The gentlemen stated on my voicemail that they are coming to serve me at either my work or home.  The gentleman did know the last 4 digits of my SSN, which scares me. His name was Aaron Brooks calling from San Francisco, CA phone# 408-905-2046 HOWEVER the number came up Unknown, but when they left the voicemail I hit Call Back, and the 408 number dialed.  The man who answered said his name was Tom Akinson, and had no idea what I was talking about, and I confronted him and told him to please come and serve me.  You could tell on the voicemail that the man was reading from a script.

I just recieved a message also.  I have not gotten any messages like this is a really long time.  I had a horrible divorce and my ex left me in dept which I paid.  My lawyer is on maternity leave.  I not trying to get upset over this but it really bothers me.  The lady who left the message talked really really really fast.  I had to listen to the message many times just to get this number and the call was unknown.  Has anyone out there gotten surved.  They say they will go to my work or home.

i got a call today from a 9999999999 number talking bout he is an investigator and stated in 48 hours they will be coming to my home to serve me papers for a payday loan. y wait 48 hours h told me on my voicemail i nee to have valid id to accept th package they wont get my damn id they must be crazy, calling and telling lies about who they are. the number they gave me was 8774981496 as reference.

My girl friend go a call from these guy right after having surgery saying that she owes 500 plus for something back in 2005 and she said it was paid and they say they will be calling the courts and having her put in jail. I called them back say what i had shown and found and that i could not find the company online what so ever the lady I talked to on the phone what more information and i did not give it to her and started to back track when i was asking questions.

Got this call, said he was Michael Banks and with Core Process and would be serving documents for a judgement against me, to call 877-498-1496 with a case number and to call them so that he could put me on his schedule to be served, other wise he would come to my work or place of employment to serve me as soon as possible and to have government proof of identification for service.  Are you joking me?  These guys are a joke, I've got no debt other then ones I pay faithfully each and every month.  Don't give in to this scam!

You won't get served - it's scam debt collectors trying to scare people into paying on loans which are either non-existent, have already been paid off, discharged in bankruptcy, etc.  If they call you again, let them know that you do not owe any debt, and that they are required by law to send you a debt validation letter.  Even better, tell them they must also send a copy of the ORIGINAL contract you signed with the original creditor (showing your signature).  Also report them to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General - it is a violation of the FDCPA to call people and tell them they are going to be served if they do not intend to actually take you to court.  You also cannot be arrested for a debt.  You may want to call your lawyer's office - even if she is not there, her paralegal can also advise you.  NEVER pay for a debt which is not proven to be yours.

I want to thank you for the information you provided.  They called my husband's phone thinking it was my number.  I looked for the case number they gave on my county's court website and found nothing.  So I searched for the phone number they left on the voice mail.  That's when I saw your post.  I called the FBI and they routed me to the FTC.  The FTC was so helpful.  They took my complaint and are going to investigate it further.  They also gave me the information I needed to flag my SSN in case this company gave it to anyone else thinking they were talking to me.  Your post was invaluable.  In case anyone else gets calls from this company, call the FTC at 1-877-382-4357 or go to their website at www.ftc.gov to make a complaint.  You can also call Experian at 1-800-525-6285 to red flag your social in case these people or any others try identity theft.

Glad to be of help.  There are too many scammers out there hurting lots of people.  When people are informed and know about their rights, they are less likely to be scared into paying for something they don't even owe.  And I might add, even if people do owe, if they know their rights under the FDCPA, they can make sure they're being dealt with correctly if a legitimate debt collector calls them.

I received the same call. I'm mad. These people are needs to be put out of business.

Rec'd a call from unknown # on 5/21 & have a msg from a man verifying the last 4 digits of my ssn & that He is an investigator hoping to verify my address before serving me papers w/in the next 48hrs & I will need a valid ID to sign for the papers. He left phone number 18774981496 w/ref # to return call. I called them today bc I had NO clue what this was about!  A woman stated that this is about a loan I took out for $700 in 2006?  I told her that I don't recall this and they have wrong person.  She said they didn't bc I verified the last 4 of my ssn. I replied it didn't matter b/c #1 this debt was 7yrs old + I filed BK in 2010 so this would be included in that.  She then refused to take my BK info (atty name or phone number) and made fun of me for not being able to pay my bills. She then refused to hang up.  After several mins however she did.  I called back & requested a supervisor.  By this time I was furious and not nice! He stated that no one called me, I had called them. When I mentioned the "investigator's" specific name who called He said no one by that name worked there.  I then told Him I had a voicemail proving I was returning his call. He then stated that was a contract company they use. I told his how stupid He was then bc in essence a contract company DOES work for YOUR company! I then explained that the other rep wouldn't take me info and that by Ohio law their company wasn't allowed to harrass me.  He told me I owed the debt, argued & ultimately hung up on me too.  I called back again this time after finding complaints about the phone number 877-498-1496 pulling scams on ppl and asked him about this.  He stated a lot of ppl do not like what they do so they are "bad mouthed" and He agreed to take my BK info finally but then He went on to say I had hurt his feelings by degrading him in the first call.  I literally laughed out loud and called him a liar in which He hung up again.

I received the call today. Unfortunatly I am always at work when I get the calls so I can never anser them.  I will be contacting my Attorney General of Missouri today.
