Had a. Post on my pop up on my phone while on facebook, telling me my computer would be blocked if I did not call 877 499 9855

Common line for scammers

Popped up on my pc while on fb soon as I hit a post stating Bill & Hillary are divorcing.   They stated they are Microsoft and I had a severe virus and its remotely accessing by banks and credit cards.   My of is frozen.   [***]!

Do not call that number.  Disconnect from the internet and shut down the computer.  Turn it back on and clear the cache and cookies and you should be fine.  Use a browser that prevents pop ups and has add ons for ad blocking such as Firefox.  Never use IE or the new Windows 10 browser as they let anything through.  If you don't need them disable Adobe Flash and Java. as well.

My son, who is a computer expert told me the same thing. I haven't used IE since.

Does anyone still fall for that virus reported to Microsoft scam?

If you're getting calls for it, it's still going. As long as computers are a huge part of everyday life, it's not likely to go away anytime soon. Not answering in any way slows the calls down if you're able.
