I'm a business. They keep calling. I don't get why they think we would have any kind of loan since my business hasn't ever been in need of one.  No one even answers when I pick up.

You have an excellent FDCPA and TCPA case and could get big bucks to compensate you for the harassment.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt cease and desist calling or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Called at 7:32 AM this morning. Did the same thing as couple of weeks ago. At that time I returned the call and told them they were not supposed to call that early. Guy I spoke to said he wasn't aware of any regulation concerning times they can call. Will be filing paperwork  (again) regarding this.

    Scam.

If I pick up the phone there is silenxe. They then call back again immediately. Never announce who they are. I don’t have a sallie mae loan and they don’t even announce who they are. Someone got sneaky and is scamming people through this line be careful.

This is a school - they asked for someone that is not listed as either a student, faculty or staff.  He said they would call back.  Told him he had the wrong number and not to call back.

Said was Sallie Mae and guy said his name is Mike Archer extension 103. Knew my name and was looking for some Tom or somebody that I don't know. Claimed that I was this Tom person and that if I didn't pay that I would be arrested. Claimed he was calling police if I didn't immediately give him a bank account or credit card. I hung up and blocked the number. Obliviously, since this was a scam, the police never showed up.

I got a similar call to what everyone else mentioned in this posting. It's a scam call. They are trying to get sneaky. I presume that they got a list of everyone who has a Sally Mae loan and then start doing back ground checks and calling directly or calling family members to get you to return the call and get scammed for several thousands.
The reason I believe this is because I do not have a Salle Mae loan, but a family member does, and the fact that Mike Archer tired to call me about it was odd because I have nothing to do with the loan or a cosigner. So that's the part I can't figure out how they got my number.
The experience that others have posted about this number makes sense that it's a well developed coordinated scam campaign.

Here is the message they left.
"Hi this message is for xxxx. my name is Mike Archer and I'm calling from Sally May. I'm trying to get in touch with you over here because I've been assigned as your account manager. I wanted to go over your personal business matter here with us. Just didn't have much time to do that so if you can give me a call back. My number is gonna be 877-501-6451 that's 877-501-6451 thank you."
