Private caller claimed to be We Energies replacing meter

Call from 877-512-2941 claiming to be WE energies and they want to replace the electric meter.  It's a scam.  Report it to the police.

They don’t have my cell # so it’s truly scam

I happen to know first hand that this is a legitimate phone number since I work there.  This number is a phone number provided to Southern Cross by WE Energies.  Southern Cross is a contractor for WE Energies and is doing all of the meter replacements in Wisconsin for them.  The easy way to verify this is to call WE Energies directly at 1-800-242-9137. (They are also able to transfer you to us without having to hold again.)

One, not finding it anywhere that this is WE Energies (even went to their site). Two, just because it was legit for you means nothing-scammers spoof such numbers.

Did not answer because I didn't recognize and a message was left stating it was the IRS issuing a warrant for my arrest if I didn't pay my back taxes.....I have never owed the IRS money since I have been employed for the last 20 YEARS as I always get a refund. This may be a "legitimate" number as you say from We Energies....however it could also be an employee of WE Energies utilizing their work time and a WE Energies number to scam people.

Didnt answer because I didnt recognize number. I am a renter, why would someone call me about changing a meter when I live in an apartment complex? The apt office handles stuff like this. Gotta be a scam.

recorded voice stated that We Energies was going to replace my electrical meter in the next few days and that no appointment was necessary. I called We Energies residential customer service and they confirmed that this was a valid phone call from their contractor "Southern Cross".

Just got a call from this number but no message left.

This is a legit number from WE energies to replace electric meter. I had a door hanger with this number on it to schedule a time for them to come, I called we energies customer service and verified it is legit, it is a company they hire to do the meter replacements. If you are concerned in not believing it’s real do what I did and call WE directly.
