I received a notice asking me to call this number.  I did have an account with the company listed on the header but no longer.  Is it a valid request or scam number?

That caller gave you no reason to call them back, so it might be a setup. I would just call the company back on their known, official, main phone line and see what they want if I had done business with them before.

I received a letter from an apparent American Funds saying to call this number 877-514-4840. When I did it sounded like the dude was in the bathroom.

I just got one of these letters. I called and they are wanting you to vote for shares in American Funds.

Good to know. I got the same letter that makes it sound like some kind of emergency.  Silliness.

I received a letter as well. not calling it

I just spoke with Capital Group/American Funds.  This is a legit mailing that encourages shareholders who have not voted their proxy materials (sent in Sep 2025) to call in & vote before the deadline in Nov 2025.  The number 877-514-4840 is to the proxy center where the vote can be cast.

Yep me too from capital Group American funds. Has my name & my Deceased Husband’s names just like NWM. The Return envelope says NWM on too with Payment Processing Ctr!  Thank DOGE (NOT) for stealing my personal  information  & Selling to the highest bidder!

I receved the same letter telling me to call 877-514-4840 so I called it back with a temporary Google number. It had a commputer generated recording saying they were closed for an emergeny. It is a phone number harvesting sam letter.

Other postings here state the email is a legit request for people who have not voted their proxy materials. How is that the fault of DOGE?
