    called August 20th..
Identified itself as service of Rite-Aid Drug Stores.
Recorded service asking for personal info for their records.
I did not give any....instead called "local" store and they
knew nothing of the service calls and suggested I do not give
out personal info.  I called back the # and a woman just answered
with a "hello"......NO identifying name given.

Exactly! They call you when you have a prescription that should not be interupted in its' taking and it's time for the refill. They've only ever asked me for my name, address, type of prescription and Dr. only to verify the info is correct. I take several medications, and they only do this with my seizure medication.

    Annoyed by random calls
I'm the kind of person who screens calls.
Didn't answer this call.  It left a VM (which, itself, was a recording that indicated that it would try calling me back later)-very iritating!

My mother doesn't have caller I.D., so I have no idea if this is the number that has been calling, but I thought I would post an experience my mother had with a sales call.  In the past week she has received more than one call from someone supposedly calling on behalf of Rite-Aid to make sure she refills her Allegra prescription, which was first prescribed and filled in November, just before Thanksgiving.  She has used but 2 pills of the batch and told them so and they were somewhat persistent. She did go to her local pharmacy and they told her they did not know anything about calls for prescription renewal, which doesn't mean they aren't made from a call center either in the States or abroad by corporate Rite-Aid marketing lackeys.  My mother said that the caller she finally spoke to (after they'd left a message or two) had an accent she couldn't identify.

As  customers of  RA, we  have  been receiving  pre-recorded  messages.  I called  local store in (SW-Pennsylvania and  spoke with the manager.   While he  acknowledges that RA  will make  calls, it is  done  live, no pre-recorded  messages  are  used.  He has  had several other  complaints. RA, according to the  manager  is  following  up on the case.

The  recording  in our  case  is  simply, are  you  "John S? If this is a  wrong  number please  hang  up."

For those with out caller ID, try  using  *69 to retrieve the  number.

I put  in an email to RITE AIDE HQ, will post answer shortly upon receipt.

when calls are  made, it's in instances where a  customer has a  perscription that  needs  picked  up or  returning  calls to custormers.

    Comments:

    Dear  Rite-Aid:

We have  been receiving  pre-recorded phone calls from some  entity identifying itself as  "Rite-Aid" .  My wife  took the  first  message  off the  answering machine.   The  recording  was something to the  effect of  : ' this  is  Rite-Aid  Pharmacy.  If this  is  *-* Sal, please press  one.  If we have  reached an incorrect  number, please hang  up."

On Thursday,  the  phone rang and   I picked up same.  There was a  pause then some  music.  I figured it was  some  tele-marketer and  hung  up.  I then dialed  *69 to retrieve the  number.  The  number was as  follows.' 1-877-522-5663 '  .  I did a  search of the  number  and  discovered that others  have  received  similar  calls.  I suspected that the  call was some
    sort of  scam. http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&sa ... 663&btnG=Search

I called the  RA  store we  normally deal with (*-*, Pa. and spoke with  management (Eric-helpful and  courteous).  I explained to Eric the  issue.  He  said  that  RA does not  make  unsolicited calls  and that he has  received  other similar  complaints.  I gave  him the  phone  number for  follow up.  He  did mention that  RA  stores will call their  customers if they have  prescriptions that are  ready for  p/u as a  reminder  but  that  is  done  in person, not  via  an automated  call.

Anyway,  our  concern is  chiefly  in regards to the  issue  of  fraud.  If  there is a  scam operating, how  did the  scammer  associate  my wife  as being a RA  customer; we  pay in cash and  on occasion, check.   I trust that you have  many security precautions  you implement but between RA and your  customers, there  may be  some sort of  breech.

    John,

I do apologize for any inconvenience. The call you received is a refill reminder program that we have. It is an automated courtesy call that calls o see if you would like for us to have your prescription that is due to be refilled, refilled and ready for pick up at your local Rite Aid. In order to make sure that they are speaking with the correct person there are few
questions they must ask, one of them being your date of birth. If this is a program you wish not to participate in I can have you removed from that. Please reply to this e-mail so that we can make sure you are removed. If you prefer to remain on the program you do not need to do anything else.

    Corey:

No problem.  I would not  have  even contacted you except for the  fact that  Eric, the  manager /asst. mgr. at the  West  Kittanning store  advised me that RA made such calls (prescription ready for  p/u) in person.  Then again,  the  store  in question was  an Eckard store  that was  changed to a RA when your  company bought out  Eckard.

Anyway, I am satisfied that  the  call was  on the  up & up.  To be  quite frank though,  we find  automated  calls to be  annoying.  Since you have the  phone  numbers  of your  customers on file, I can't  see why  RA  can't simply leave a  message  saying an   order for  Jonn Q. Public is  ready for p/u at  the store located  in , for  example, West  Kittanning.
I understand and  suspect your  protocol is  in place to satisfy the mandates of the  so called  privacy laws enacted  by the  nanny's in DC.

I'll ask  the  wife  if she  wants  off the  automated  call list; if  so, she'll probably  contact the  store where, at  present, she is  transacting business.

Rite-Aid repeatedly called me at the crack of dawn via this number, after I requested three times that they stop, continuing after I informed them that they were violating the Do Not Call registry. It took a complaint to the FTC to make the [***] stop. Do they honestly think that enraging customers is a good way to retain us?

Just received a call from "Rite Aid Pharma", phone number (253) 846-5389 only to answer and have a recording trying to sell me Satelite services.  When I selected "0" and stated I wanted to be removed from their list, and didn't appreciate that the caller ID reported them as a local pharmacy I was told "you didn't say please so I am ending this call" and hung up on.

Suppose I should've known Rite Aid wouldn't likely be calling me since I go to Walgreens.

I realize this is not the same phone call others are receiving, but seemed most appropriate as it was reporting in my caller ID as Rite Aid.

Caller ID said "Tollfree Number, but I picked it up anyway to ask to be removed from calling list. It was a lady's automated voice saying, "This is a courtesy call from your Rite Aid Pharmacy. Please press 1 if your name is....which I did. Then the message said they needed to verify personal info for security purposes. Please enter your birthdate." At this point, I felt something wasn't right, so I hung up and called my pharmacy to see if they had placed the call. They had not, and were not aware that a scam was being used with their business name. The manager said he would alert their corporate offices to this scam.

Same thing, basically.  Recorded voice said "This is a courtesy call from Rite Aid."  Recorded voice asked to verify my name, then said they had to "verify my private information" before continuing to "speak" with me.
So I immediately hung up, it screamed scam to me.

We do have three prescriptions with RA, but they were refilled last week, so that wasn't it.
I called back just now and reached a perky rep who said that they were calling to make sure I refilled my Rx "because they were concerned about my health."  She said that I did have another Rx that was due for refill (WRONG, WRONG,WRONG!), and perhaps she should discuss it with me?

Nope. I firmly asked to be taken off of their list, and also informed her that their "courtesy" call gave off every indication of a scam. ("unknown" on caller ID, recorded voice, wanting private info--no thanks!)

"Oh no, all we wanted to verify was your date of birth!"
I better be off that list pronto
