Its not a scam at all, i got the mailing and called the number.  All I had to do was take a 90 minute tour of the showroom and listen to their sales pitch and i recieved the tablet as well as the dinner card.  The company itself has already saved me about $10,000 during my remodeling.  Bit of a pricey membership, about $5000 dollars for the first year, but I have more than made up for that with my purchases.  The compnay I called is a third party, and all they do is book appointments for the DirectBuy clubs.  Not a scam at all, even if I had not decided to join the club, I would have still recieved the gifts.  When you call, they ask some qualifying questions and arrange an appointment for you to come and take the tour and its as simple as showing up and staying for the full presentation to get the promotional items.  Judge it as you will, but I'm gonna bet that half the people who posted here did not qualify for some reason or another and are just venting frustration.

Only thing you forgot to mention is how long you been working there ... because no one who isn't an "employee" (i.e., paid scammer) would post anything remotely like this drivel!

Seriously, do you still find suckers who fall for this tired old scam? I guess it's getting tougher, or you wouldn't be here!

I'm a general contractor just so you know and why don't you try giving the number a call yourself and asking them what it's about.  If you actually got the little piece of mail, it says on there restrictions apply, call for details.  I called and got my gifts and decided to join the club and have no regrets.  When I took my tour there were only a handful of people there, and all the times I have gone to the showroom to get my purchases there are people taking tours.  Do some research before you throw comments like paid scammer around, and actually look into the company.  If it were a scam, why has it been operating for over 40 years with locations across the US and Canada?

Bad reviews?  Like from Consumer Reports and from Consumerist.com?
Where people were ushered into high-pressure sales pitches, told they cannot compare prices before signing up (CR later found better prices at other stores without memberships)?
    http://consumerist.com/2007/09/14/direct-buy-pay-5000-to-save/

Where women cannot come without their husbands?
    http://consumerist.com/2010/09/15/directbuy-w ... out-my-husband/

And where lesbians aren't exactly recognized?
    http://consumerist.com/2010/09/17/directbuy-e ... o-lesbians-too/

If that's the Direct Buy you like, that says more about you that anything each.  As a shill and a human being.

Please take the time to report these people to the FBI's white collar crime department. The website that I was given when I sat down with local FBI agents today, is:
    http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

The more people that turn them in, the better they will be able to justify spending time, money, resources and people on these types of cases.

You cant file a report to the White Collar crime dept unless you have proof of fraud.  What's your proof, a piece of mail that clearly states in fine print that some restrictions apply?  Buisnesses are entitled to provide a service to whomever they choose, regardless of marital status or sexual preference.  This number does not belong to DirectBuy, it belongs to a third party call center who book appointments for them.  Their hands are tied with what they can offer and what restrictions must be followed in order to get your gifts.  Your posting of a link to the FBI in order to have them reported will do nothing to DirectBuy, but might hurt a company who do one thing and one thing only for them, book appointments.  I'm not saying that I agree with the way that it does work or that DirectBuy's restrictions are fair, but punishing a third party company will not change the way that DirectBuy operates.

That is such GARBAGE, did this in FL, and I did qualify but the "gift" was not what was on the initial paper. Had a REALLY hard time cancelling the membership, even though I followed the law and statutes on cancelling. This company is a RIP OFF and for the Wealthier society that has money to burn and spend, unlike the average person.
