- PIssed Off ConsumerReceived a scam email which said it was from Equifax. It said to call 877-559-6022. This is a scam where they ask for your personal information. Do not click on any of the links and do not call this number!

- MyI received a plain envelope last Thursday or Friday, inside I could see Equifax emblem & address, Date, with my name & address below it. Letterhead looked legit. But the product I purchased I did not cancel, hence why are they sending a refund check in amount of $12.95?
So I googled and pop goes the weasel! Several complaints about scams/frauds using the Equifax name and emblem.
I did call Equifax they confirmed product I purchased was inactive, and that they did send the $12.95 refund check.
Having dealt with fraudulent use of my personal information don’t want to take chances. Refund check $12.95, gets “trashed”-redacted, shredded, it’s not worth headaches or worries....even though Equifax said they sent check.- Caller: Letter w/ this phone # on letterhead
- BarbI received a letter and check for $38.85 stating that my Equifax subscription product is no longer active. It said to call 877 559-6022 if I have questions. The letter and check look legit, however, Equifax can't verify they sent me a check and neither can the Equifax Data Breach Settlement people. I called the number and says it isn't in service. Equifax settlement won't be settled until Dec 19, 2019. I feel this check is a scam and not going to cash it, not worth the headache.
- MikeHuntletonIf you had a Subscription and it is no longer active, check with Equifax directly to find out if that is the balance of what was left on your subscription.
The first thing to know is if you didn't file a Claim for the Settlement, you won't be getting anything. If you did file a Claim, then you would have been told when the Deadline is and what will happen. Scammers are counting on people to think everyone is entitled to a check and hope you don't give it any thought. But why would a scammer send a check for such a small amount? What would the scam be in that case? Scammers generally send out a larger amount and try convincing victims to pay back the difference on the phony check with Gift Cards or wire transfer.
They don't send out phony checks just for sport.
There are many Cases going on and you should do research before tossing that money in the trash if it turned out to be an actual Settlement or reimbursement. Something to think about!
Never trust the caller to be who they claim to be or a number on a letter/card, always call an Official number to find out.Quote:https://www.equifaxbreachsettlement.com
This Is The Official Settlement Website For The Equifax Data Breach Settlement.
It Is Operated By The Settlement Administrator, Not By Equifax. - GaryGot an email on 8/1 saying extended subscription for 1 yr at no cost.
