- KellyCalled looking for my exhusband, they violated so many FDCPA laws with the information they gave me. I work for Collection agency, and it's debt buyers like this that give reputable collection agencies a bad name.
I refused to give them any of my exhusbands info as and told them I would have him contact them, I will be filling him in to be very careful with these tricky fellas... I'm just lucky I know enough about this stuff, I feel bad for the people who do not.- Caller: Ruben & Yates
- MelissaI jsut got a call from my ex-husband and he told me that he got a call from this company. They got really nasty with him and told him that they were going to see me in court. They also told him that if he didnt give them my "correct" information that he would also have charges brought against him. I dealt with this about 4 months ago a similiar situation. Turns out it was a scam. BIG SURPRISE!

- AliceGot a call from 877-573-2104 stating that they are going to sue my daughter in 1/2 hour if she doesn't call them back. The said that a complaint was filed against her SS# and used the word "fraud". I know that my daughter is behind in her credit card payments but she can not help it. Here is my complaint ... why in the h__ are they calling me?
Signed,
Alice doesn't live here anymore.- Call type: Debt collector
- LisaI copied this directy from Rubin and Yates BBB report....which they have a B-. All 21 complaints they had against them in the past 36 months have been cleared. But that does not excuse or make the harassing calls ok. Read the part that says they "may not" do!
1> My personal info was given to someone other than myself or a lawyer they state in messages that they are implying I need.
2> Threats have been left as messages on my phone to get prepaired for them to collect my assets
They did contact a family member with all that personal info and told them it was "in my best interest" to call before the end of the business day "or else"
3> They have called before 8 am and most of which are around 6 am.
4> They have called my phone more than 10 times back to back in less than an hour...I'd say that is harassing.
5> They have not sent any statements or letters to me. But they said they had.
6> They have threatened that a "fraud case" had been issued in the county where I live, with a case # that does not exist according county records...but they said it exists. Which means they are falsely implying that I've committed a crime!!
7> They do not even have my name right...seems if they had my SS# they'd have the name correct and the address to where I live correct.
I know what my credit issues are and how they got there, some life changes are very difficult to recoup from and took me more time than I would liked it to take to clear them up. Regardless of what happened to my credit or to anyone else's, there is no reason for Rubin and Yates employees to talk to anyone they contact in such a manner or for anyone to post any of these statements I've read on here. If you do not know a persons reason for what happens in their life..keep you mouth shut!
You can go to BBB link "Rubin and Yates" scroll down to "Industry tips" and see for yourself. Here ya go! They do not follow "Debt Collectors" Industry Tips.

Debt Collection
Debt Collection The following is BBB general information and is not intended as a report on any specific company. If you experience problems with a collection agency, it's important to know your rights. There are two types of debt collectors: creditors, to whom you owe money directly, and third party collectors, which collect on behalf of companies. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, creditors and third party collectors may NOT: * use false, deceptive, or misleading representations or means; * harass, oppress, or abuse any person while seeking payment; * use any false statements or engage in unfair practices. The Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission offer the following information on fair collection practices. Contact Debt collectors may not contact you before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m., unless you agree to alternative times. They may contact you in person, by mail, telephone, telegram, or fax; however, they may NOT contact you by postcard. Collectors also may not contact you at work if they know your employer disapproves. You may stop a collector from contacting you by writing a letter to the agency telling them to stop. Once the agency receives your letter, it may not contact you again except to say there will be no further contact, or to notify you if they intend to take a specific action. If you have an attorney, debt collectors may not contact anyone other than your attorney once you've provided the attorney's information. If you do not have an attorney, collectors may contact other people, but only to find out where you live and work. In most case, collectors may not contact such permissible parties more than once and cannot reveal to anyone other than you or your attorney that you owe money. Within five days after you are first contacted, collectors must send a written notice telling you the amount of money you owe, the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and what action to take if you believe you do not owe the money. If you believe the company contacted you in error, you must write to them within 30 days after the initial contact; upon receipt of your letter, the company must cease collection activities. However, if the company can provide proof of the debt such as a copy of a bill for the amount owed, the company may renew collection proceedings. Prohibited Practices Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices while attempting to collect a debt. For example, they may not: * use threats of violence or harm against the person, property, or reputation; * publish a list of consumers who refuse to pay their debts (except to a credit bureau); * use obscene or profane language; * use phone calls to repeatedly harass you; * fail to identify themselves on the telephone; * advertise your debt; * threaten arrest if you do not pay your debt; * say they will seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages, unless the collection agency or creditor intends to do so, and it is legal to do so; * indicate that actions such as a lawsuit will be taken against you, which legally may not be taken, or which they do not intend to take; * collect any amount greater than your debt, unless allowed by law; * deposit a post-dated check prematurely. Debt collector s may not use false statements when collecting a debt. For example, they cannot: * falsely imply they are attorneys or government representatives; falsely imply you have committed a crime; * falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit bureau; * misrepresent the amount of your debt; * misrepresent the involvement of an attorney in collecting a debt; * indicate that papers being sent to you are not legal forms when they are; * give false credit information about you to anyone; * send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency when it is not; * use a false name. Law Violations If you believe a debt collector has violated the law, you may sue in state or federal court within one year from the date of the possible violation. If you win, you may recover money for damages you suffered, including court costs and attorney's fees. You should also report problems with debt collectors to the Attorney General's office and the Federal Trade Commission. - jane doe replies to AnyMichael Rentoul just tried his scam on me. It is a phishing scam, he tried to get me to pay an amount by credit card so that fees wouldn't be applied to an amount he said my son owes by 7:30 tonight. How did he even know my name! Anyway, I told him I would provide no information over the phone. He said it was a debt my son owed from 2008 and that if I was a good parent I would help him out. he said he was from the office of Ruben and Yates! This is scary. How do they think of these things. He said my son owed Chase money and they were going to sue him. I said, he never had a chase card. He said well we have his signature and we are sure it is him.
