Got a call from a dif number (512) 646-4042
Austin, TX. The guys name was Joseph Sheshelski. He asked for me to call back the 877#. The only problem is the person he called for wasn't me. He called for a friend of mine. He said it was in reference to a 1099C in the friends name. Seems like my friend gave out my number to avoid something. Kinda pissed off about it. I'm going to call back and let them know Im not who they're looking for. My guess is that it is a debt collector.

Just talked to them. They said the company name is Alexander & Stufano. They do mediation for the courts & their clients and process for the IRS. They said my friend is being evaluated for legal action. They removed my info from their system because I have them the right info for who they are looking for.

This company has had numerous complaints filed against them thru the BBB. The company has never responded to any of them. Their website is a phishing site.  Also they probably bought that friend's phone number or found it thru facebook. Do not give these people the time of day.

You were wrong in giving them this info on your friend and now they have your info and in a few days they will you call you back saying something simular to what they stated to you... they are fraudulent and are scamming ppl out of money stating that they have a 1099 filed in their name on a fraudulent check for a payday loan that never took. place. now they have you and your friend and you should call your friend up and let them know that this is all a huge scam. you willingly gave them info that they didnt have to begin with. at least the right info they need. They go by a lot of different names and when you call back you dont get the same person and they say a different company name. they have been named in several lawsuits under various names and some many ppl like myself have been harrassed by them and have file charges with the local police,states general attorney's office and the FTC.. they are not with the Federal offices at all or part of a law firm collecting on behalf of their client which is a fraudulent payday company.  take that tollfree number you have and research in the box to side of your post and then tell me what yu find out and how much better you feel now about given your friends personal info out. If you were any type of friend you would of called your friend first

Whenever you look on your phone, this number comes up SPAM so that should be a clue there!!!

Received a threatening message from this company

The number on my caller ID was 717-204-7619 out of Buffalo, NY. Nothing is really coming up for that. All of my voice mails come through to my email, and this is what the email transferred it too:

"You need to be brought-this(?) pending our discovery. You may press one now to be connected live to our mediation department or call us back by the end of business today at 877-576-3792 failure to contact us will result in decisions being made without your knowledge. This shows on record as our final attempt."

It's not always accurate in what the people are saying, but it was a woman's voice and without a name, I am not calling it back. I have no idea if it was for any of us or someone we know as bill collectors have been phishing for my sister-in-law and calling our house.

I got a call from this number. The man said he was from the law office of Alexander and Stefano. Said that if I didn't respond he was going to take further action. I've never filed a 1099 so this has to be a scam. I'm not responding. If it's legal, they'll find my home address and mail proof to me to validate the debt as required by law.

Call back number for Alexander and Stefano.  Left message telling me if I or my representative did not call them back, the matter would leave their office and that they would take further action.

Number they called from was 716-204-7619.

Received message from number stating theywere from a law firm and that I must return the call or further actions will occur. I have reported to the FTC.  And encourage everyone to report also..  Their site has an area to file complaints.  In the past, I have found the more people that file the deeper the FTC delves in to the company involved.  When that occurs the calls stop and "they" move on to another part of the country.  Let's stop this harrassement...report it now!

REPORT TO THE FTC!  I contacted an attorney that gave me the same advice.  This company even called my work...how they got the number who knows?  Maybe one of my "friends" gave it to them...DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION TO THESE PEOPLE ABOUT YOU OR ANYONE ELSE!

Got message from the number 1-877-576-3792. He was from a law firm and I must return the call or further
actions will occur. I have been harrassed from these people since part of last year when my mother was ill. And when she passaway leave me alone!!!!!!! WE ARE GREIVING

I am glad this thread is out there exposing these heartless greedy jerks!  They keep calling my mom trying to reach me. They gave the whole 'WE WILL TAKE FURTHER ACTION' song and dance.  I check my credit regularly. I have no debt so they can kiss my @$$.

There was a message when I got home.  It was for another person.  The message sounded threatening.  I am not going to do anything about it because it was not for me.  For some reason, I seem to be on eveyone's I am going to call You for someone Else list.

A 1099C is a cancelation of debt. That means that if your friend paid them any kind of money the rest of the balance not paid can be considered taxable. Besides the IRS is the only that wil mail a 1099C not an so called attorney. You might want to check these people out, it smells like a scam.

Sorry for bad spelling, sticky keyboard. Anyway this still sound like a phishing scam to get information to steal from you.

I am so tired of these people trying to scam me and others.  Yes, I am getting the same calls "We will take further action against you; if you do not call by the end of the day" and here is a good one.  I am going to send someone there to arrest you if you do not call back.  Who do I look like "boo boo the fool"?  They are calling me from 410-705-6116 and then telling me to call them back at 877-576-3792. How many numbers do they have?

On 4/19/13 I received an "urgent message" for.... (and they had my name!).  Here is what they said:  

"We have been obtained to locate and notify you of a very important pending matter that requires your immediate attention!  We have important documents that may require your signature that need to be processed pending our discovery. You may press 1 now to be connected live to our mediation department or call us back by the end of business today at 877-576-3792.  Failure to contact us may result in decisions being made without your knowledge. This serves as record af our final attempt."

(They called from 916-527-0414.)

SCAM!  Needless to say, I did not call them back.

I also got the call from this number 877 576 3792;  asking for the wrong person and sounds very nasty
; and alos want the person to call back at the end of the day. otherwise they will proceed with legal lawsuit;

I have no idea who they are as well;
