if you dont call them back, they will just call you again. statistics canada employees are required to call until you are "educated" in the survey topic. it takes less energy to listen to them for 5 minutes than to try and avoid them.

the calls from stats canada are getting rediculous- they phone every three months for something - they have the cencus forms -get info from there - wasting our tax dollars - make use of the electronic technology the government has.  they phone every two hours and have p******d me off and so i put them on ignore

Not just the NPHS. They do several surveys there, than just the NPHS (National Population Household Survey). It's saves taxpayers money that way.

I used to get a letter with a form, this is supposed to be for the employment/unemployment stats. My problem is just because someone tells me they are from stats it doesn't mean that they are. If it is a compulsory than it should come in the mail so that I know which questions are legit.It get real anxiety when they call as I am a senior and alone. We are always told not to give any info over a telephone. So why do they insist?

hi im calling from statistics canada call us back toll fre at 18776047828 and quote your reference number, we operate from downtown edmonton and are restricted with you info by the statistics act.

we use phones because it's cheaper and more likely to get a response than any other method plain and simple

i can verify this, we do call back until you know and arent blindly refusing, its also easy to just help us out and do the survey. its for everyones benefit.

Got a call from these people and they left a message on my work phone. Ridiculous and a waste of time.

you wouldnt never answer a call from this number, they call from the local number that is assigned to their desk the 877 number is the call back number so that you are not on hold for as long. but nice try....

Claims to be StatsCan. This survey/scam has been going for several years using the same numbers.
Search shows Edmonton (St. Albert), AB location and Telus as provider.
Telus has no record of this number.
They also use 780-495-3929 in the evenings. If you call back you will get a live answer.
Asked to be removed from call list and received 2 calls next day from 877 number.
They have been on my contact list as scam for some time and display appears as scam so ignore call.
Scam contact list is growing monthly but at least I know not to answer phone.
