US Navy Veterans Association requesting money for vets overseas. Would like to know if it is a legal association.

We just received a similar call. When we began to ask more questions the caller abruptly hund up.  Doesn't sound legitimate to me.

Continously calls, Monday thru Saturday 09:00 to 21:00. When picked up there is noise like a party going on and people talking in the back ground but no one answers when I try to talk to them. So now alls I do is lift the receiver and hangup again. Last call was 09:05 PST.

Received a call from this number 7:45 PSP 12/11. According to the Better Business Bureau Web site, the United States Navy Veterans Association does not meet the BBB's standards for charitable, fundraising organizations because " . . . although USNVA's total income exceeds $250,000, it states it does not have audited financial statements."

call just came in on called ID as (Out of Area).  got the # off called ID and found this site.

just checking, I do not answer calls do not show who is calling. they did not leave a message.

got a call this morning, didn't answer, no message. From these other responses, it sounds fraudulant and just in time to scam people for the holidays.

My answering machine only recorded someone saying "Mike?....Mike?" and that was all. I used *69 to get the number to call back to find out who it was and got a recorded message saying they were the Navy Veterans Association. ANY message left that doesn't say who they are, a number to call them back at, and what they're calling about is totally unprofessional and I avoid them like the plague.

Call at 9:24am,Dec13,2007 from877-657-6584. Did not answer, left no message.

called around 4pm MST.  did not introduce himself and simply said "I'm calling about a check Mark (my husband's name) wrote."  I told him not to call again.  Called again in 1/2 hour, did not answer, no message.  I'm sure we'll get more calls.

Received a call today from the above #, the caller identified herself as "Lekisha"  and calling for the Navy Veterans Association and employed by ACS. I asked if she would (1) remove our number from their call list, (2) provide me their physical address, and (3) mail me their printed "Do Not Call Policy".  She refered me to her supervisor "Vincent" who refused to comply with my requests.  He gave me another # 888-665-9359, which turns out to be an answering machine.  I advised "Vincent" that I would certainly seek damages in court should I receive further unsolicited calls from ACS.
There are several precedents for recovering $$$ from these scum bags.  So fight back.

Started getting calls from this number about 4 days ago and have called 3 to 4 times a day everyday since.  I have set my computer/modem to intercept the call and automatically hang up on them (along with the many others).  Calls like these in general have increased to my household 10 fold since Thanksgiving and I am adding new numbers to be intercepted daily.  I would like to know why the DoNotCall law does not cover ALL calls requesting money, except for legitimate creditors that have business with YOU.  Why are so called not-for-profit organizations exempt from calling you at home and badgering you for money?

recevied a call from 8776576584  at 9:00 as well, didn't answer as there was no Caller ID

Call came in at 9:14am on December 19, 2007. A man said I am calling to see if you would like to support our troops. I said we are not interested. He then said, :I can't belive you are not interested in supporting our troops!" I said, we support them through my childs school. He said so I can mail you an envelope to and then he stated my address. I laughed and said NOT INTERESTED and hung up.

After readding the  previous complaints up above I am wondering how many more phone calls I will receive...

9:04 AM Mountain time Caller ID.  Have received several calls within past 2 weeks

Called 9:17 am  . . .  ID said "UNAVAILABLE", which I never answer . . .  (ESPECIALLY when it comes from an 800 or 877 number).  They hung up on 4th ring.  (Another clue that they're a telemarketer.)

Called about 4 times a day. You answer and they hang up. I called back and recorder says U. S. Navy Charity. Which I don't believe.
