Received a voice message today from "Mr. Ford" with call back number 877-659-9628 saying he had received "wage garnishment order for 55%" of my wages and that if I wanted to stop it, I should call back. WHAT A SCAM !!!!!!!  I won't fall for it. Nothing but a scare tactic to extort money from ignorant people.

If the caller is calling about a debt owed they need to tell you from whom and just to let you know -  harrassment is against the law.

    "445.252 Prohibited acts

Sec. 2. n) Using a harassing, oppressive, or abusive method to collect a debt, including causing a telephone to ring or engaging a person in telephone conversation repeatedly, continuously". . .

What must the debt collector tell you about the debt?

Within five days after you are first contacted, the collector must send you a written notice telling you the amount of money you owe; the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money; and what action to take if you believe you do not owe the money.

Received a message from a Ms. "McGarry" to call back 877-659-9628. The previous time it was a "Mr. Ford" who claimed he had a wage garnishment order against me for "55% percent" of my wages and that it would be executed on my next paycheck unless I call back right away. That was bogus... I have no wage garnishment. My employer won't honor anything but a court order issued by a judge in my county of residence. SO THEY CAN POUND SALT UNTIL THE END OF TIME. Why can't these crooks be arrested for attempted extortion????

I recieved a similar call from a Mrs. Parker. She said it was a payday loan. I have never in my life had a payday loan. She could not furnish me with a name of the company, how much, an account number or anything. She call at my work place. A number I never give out. I always use my cell for personal business. When I called her back the next day, per my lawyers request, they couldn't find anything on me. Funny. My lawyer is following up on it.

I almost got fooled by this scam.  It was a good thing I was telling my friend about this and she asked me if they sent me anything in writing which they didn't.  They had my address and even the name of my bank like it was really legit.  She suggested to me for me to call Money Tree since they are the root of where they said I took out the loan.  I spoke to a very nice lady and she told me I had NO outstanding loan even going back to 2009.  I told her all that was told to me and she told me that it sounded like a SCAM and that there were allot of scams like that.  I then called my bank and cancelled my debit card so they couldn't draw from my account.  I am so greatful to my friend that she told me about this.  I should have questioned when I saw that the confirmation email was from a yahoo account and not from an EWA Recovery email.  You can't even Google EWA Recovery.....I should have checked that from the get go.  I almost got fooled but now they are the fool!

I don’t know where you got your information from, but that E.W.A. address & info is incorrect.  That address belongs to Sallie Mae Credit Card Billing & the correct link for that address is as follows:
    https://www.statementlook.com/fdr/jsp/stateme ... 08001&PID=STATE

    Billing Inquiries
    Sallie Mae Credit Card Billing
    P.O. Box 2988
    Omaha, NE 68103-2988

I don’t know where to find information on the fake company E.W.A., but if anyone does, PLEASE POST! An email address, website or mailing address would be lovely!

Wow - received a letter from Card Services, POB 2988, Omaha, NE 68103-2988.

    *  many, many calls from "Card Services" in the past.  I block their number each and every time.   They refuse to disclose information to me about the reason of the call.  At most I can get it's about my VISA or Mastercard.

    * a letter came with the above heading and address.  It references my unused cc that will soon expire.  I am instructed to call immediately 800-821-5184 so they will renew my cc or I can just my card asap...  still can't figure out what cc they are talking about...

    * "as a Visa credit cardholder, you receive excellent benefits such as:"  it goes on to list things...and again encourages me to call.

Really?   All of the cc proudly include their known name, from the issuing authority (bank, store, etc).

    Feels scammy to me.

I have also been getting these calls for a few months at work they will give me no information except I took a payday loan out over the internet. I haven't even had a bank account since 2000. They say the loan was in 2010. Received letter from a Mrs. Parker, which I took the letter to our police station and they are looking into it. What a bunch of scam artist.

I received the same letter that ijk from Oct. 2011 received.  They have also sent me checke to transfer my cc acct. to them.  They claim I have a Visa with them, but I don't.  I checked my credit report & it looks like they bought out a credit card company that I had a MC with that I closed the acct. many years ago.  The company was 5 Star Credit Card.
