A family member received a threatening, harassing phone call. I believe this is a collection agency? Any information would be helpful.

Received two phone calls from this company at work.  The first call was polite enough, except the man on the line (calling from an Unknown number by the way) said he was a process server and I needed to call 1-877-671-2022 to find out what this was all about and get them to stop him from serving me!  Since when do process servers call and give you the chance to stop service?!  I called and the recording says "you have reached alliance."  The second call was received by a co-worker, and they told her that they were investigating me and going to seize my house and assets and they were going to serve me and I should call 1-877-671-2022.  I am not in the habit of dodging my debts, but I haven't received anything in the mail that would indicate that I owe Alliance anything. I still have yet to be served...

I receicved the same type of call but they called my employer and actually left a message with the Human Resource Department stating that I was facing serious charges and had a court date to appear for these charges. This is the first contact i have had with these people and it has caused a great amount of embarassment (which is what they are after) not to mention that my employer is wondering what is going on. I am in contact with a laywer and have called the FTC and BBB about this type of harrassment.

This is a complete 100% scam.  They use various scams to get your I.D. and money from you.  I have determined they use various phising techniches to get just enought amount of info from you to make them sound convincing.  This has been identified by the FBI as a "Payday Loan" scam.  If you receive this message from this phone number by 1 of 3 females or a male by the name of Mr Wood please foward it on the the appropriate authorities.  I will come back and post when I have more information.  Remember that you will never be served any thing over the phone.
