- BC| 8 repliesFirst, understand that no one called me from this number. HOWEVER, a friend's computer has been infected with a virus that warns him that he should call this number right away to get help from a group of "Windows techs". Although I knew the warning was a SCAM, I called it and got some middle-east idiot who said he worked for Microsoft. I told him I knew he was a fake, and he said, "Then why are you wasting my time?" So I suggested he should make love to his camel and hung up. Now I have to waste my time removing the virus. My friend says he doesn't know how he got the virus, but I'm guessing he downloaded an email attachment from someone he trusted.

CONGRATULATIONS!
You have won a slot on the scammers' Call This Number For A Good Time CD.
Y'see, they might not have known your number before ... but they certainly do now!
Be prepared for some ... interesting ... phone calls!
(And, *67 does not work when calling toll free numbers, if you were going to tell us you used that) - BC replies to Slim| 6 repliesNo need for sarcasm. If you think these guys sit around harvesting phone numbers, you obviously don't understand SCAMMER technology. You didn't post any information about this number, so I wonder why you visited this site. DID YOU GET A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER? If not, why are you here?
- Gunnar replies to BC| 2 repliesHe understands "Scammer technology" to a degree that you will never attain. What you think of as sarcasm was, in fact, an effort to point out the fact that you've made a blunder. By calling that number you've now placed yourself on a list of targets. You might now start to receive more scam attempts, your number may be sold to a myriad of other scammers. Scammers could start to spoof YOUR number in scam attempts & it can get worse than that.
Slim is one of a number of highly respected members of this forum. He's here to help others & to help put a stop to frauds & scammers. If you're incapable of understanding that then you really have nothing to offer here.

You previously stated you did not get a call from that number. So, to use YOUR logic, why are YOU here?
Yes, my answer was sarcastic, because you merely added your phone to the scammers' list of suckers to irritate. Read Gunnar's response for a less sarcastic answer ... but both answers are true, nonetheless.

Engage brain before interacting with a scammer - Gunnar replies to Slim| 1 replyG'mornin' Slim!

Yea - I read that before my first cuppa coffee.

If you do read that, you might understand why some of us get rather irritated at some of the "solutions" or responses visitors make here, claiming they were smarter than the scammers. - Scott replies to Gunnar| 1 replyI made the mistake of calling it too. I hung up. What do I do now?
- Gunnar replies to ScottBe prepared to receive more calls from scammers. They'll most likely be Indian scammers. Invest in a call blocker and/or get a blocking app. for your smartphone. If you're not using a smartphone, get one. They can be found for under $50. If you can't do that, assign nuisance callers a "No ring" tone on your call list.
Do some research & educate yourself on the ways of the modern scammers. It's a fascinating subject. Just when you think you know how low a human being can be, another scammer will come along to show you how wrong you really were.
Be Safe. Be Aware.
Gunnar - Alan in IowaJust wanted to verify that this number is in use by the phony 'call us to fix your problem' crowd. I just had a customer have the that experience. They were on the internet when a screen came up that refused to be closed. On the screen it gave a variety of serious sounding warnings and told the user to call this number to have a Microsoft Certified Technician fix the problem. Fortunately they did not call the number and called me to have it removed instead.
- Georgemessage with this phone number popped up on my computer and refuse to go away. Anyone knows how to get rid of it?..
