Message on Ans machine says they were verifying my address and if I didn't call by end of business they would issue unspecified documents from their clerk's office.  Seems like total BS and some type of scam.

Voicemail left saying documents for my address and need to call by end of business day they would issue unspecified documents however name of person they were looking for isn’t me seems like a scam

Received same message.  Caller unknown on my cell. Said documents were being issued out and If I did not respond by 5pm, they would assume my information was valid.  Scam. I have lived same address for 20plus years, worked same job for 20 plus years.  If someone was needing to locate me, then here I am.  Also, why if you are a verifiable company would you block your number?

Calling saying I owe money 10,000 dollars from 5 years ago on a credit card.I know that's not true.

I received the same message as above . . . only it is not my name and address, it is for one of my relatives. Strange that it should came to me.

They have called twice left the same type of message for both me & my brother - if I don’t call back they will issue some mysterious documents...

They have called my house twice with the same information as everyone has listed. What is up with this mess?

Same thing happen to me they say they are going to come to my work. Well because of my job I answer all calls he knew my name but that was probably because my name comes up on caller id. But further tries to get private info from me. I definitely did not give them anything. I actually called the masgistatres office and he told me the 877-697-6474 and nc552911 is a SCAM! He told me to go report them with the sheriffs office.

These people have called pretty much everyone I know, trying to get a hold of me. I have called them twice now just to prove a point that they are scammers. First time I called, they knew my name without hesitation, because my "number pulled up", if they had this information why havebt they called me directly. Second time i called, they asked for me to verify my social, i told them i wasnt verifying sh*t and they could tell me what the hell they wanted, they proceeded to hang up on me. This is nothing but a scam, I knew it from the minute it started happening because I literally owe nothing to anyone.

I was called by an unknown number on my cell and let it go to vm. There was no timed threat but the message did say they had documents about me and my ex finance from 16 years ago in regard to my current address that has nothing to do with him. Crazier yet is my sister got the same call in Chicago in reference to me and him at another address. Both vm left this 877# and a 5 digit reference #!!

Same thing happened to me. Saying. They had documents for me. I called them back to see what the hell. But I read all this before I called. I figured it was a scam. And they were just trying to get money from me and I played along and said I couldn’t pay anything to them. And he said ok we’ll see you in court then... haha! Crazy. And they hung up on me. This scam [***] is getting out of control!!

Called my neighbor looking for me that I need to call 8776976474. Left msg on the answering Mac. Called my son on Sunday with same #. I don’t know how they got my neighbor #. I need these scammers to be caught.

Exactly the same scenario as the above reports.  I have also received multiple voice mail messages saying the same thing:  The caller has legal documents to be sent to a person OTHER THAN ME and needs to verify the address.  If this is a debt collection matter, there is not the slightest attempt to comply with applicable laws ("this is an attempt to collect a debt") or the prohibition against giving information about analleged debtor to whoever happens to answer the phone.

Scam!!! Received a threatening voicemail left for my husband. Same as most others trying to verify address... Gonna issue legal docs... Blah blah... Good luck!

Friends and family receiving calls from this number with same message. However my friend answered the call and he told her they were at my front door and we weren't answering. I checked video footage and no one came to our door. They sound like they are in a call center. Scammers! Had to post on social media so nobody will give out our info! Crazy they get away with this! It is harrassment!

Debt collection/process server extortion scam.

One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.  They often call people that have never even been associated with you because they get erroneous information off of the internet.

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work they need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and have to be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there is actually a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid. 

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

They also called my number wanting to get ahold of my daughter.  The number came up as "unknown" on my phone.  The message wa the same as the others.  After reading all of the messages I also believe that this is a scam!!
