Got a text from 478-79 Thanking me for visiting their site (but doesn't state which site) and to call 877-706-6424 to claim my free $200 gift voucher to Walmart. I text stop to the number provided and received a confirmation text that the subscription would be cancelled. When I called the phone number back to find which website I supposedly went to the people working were very evasive and wouldn't answer my questions and actually hung up on me twice.

Same thing happened to me, I haven't called it yet nor text stop because I dont want to be charged or anything but either way I know its a scam!! I just want to know who this is and how they got my number

My name is Andera but this cell phone isn't even in my name so how did they get this number anyway..

Got same message as everyone else.  Spam to cell numbers is prohibited by law, and you can report, although not sure (since it appears to originate from overseas) that anything can bed one.  Let your cellphone provider know also.  This from fcc.gov:

received unsolicited text called to see who sent and they hung up on me when I said I didn't want their offer.

ya--- im confused i got a txt from (718)508-2568 saying : thanks for visiting our site call 877-706-6424 to claim your $200 retail voucher! use gift code RRV200 2end reply stop"  and i haven't been to a site from these people before and i'm just confused how they got my number and why would they send me that even though i have never been to their site.

Received the same text message.  Did not text stop back as who knows what they will do with that.  I did call the number provided though.  Spoke with someone who was evasive and could not answer my questions and in fact hung up on me, twice! Called back to speak with supervisor.  Supervisor was all in the selling game as well.  Was still evasive.  Only info given to me was they were located out of Phoenix Arizona and that they represented "Home rewards plus" whatever that means.  Asked for a physical address, would not give it to me.  Informed them I would be filing a complaint and he asked if I was interested in the $200.  haha. He then hung up on me.  So much for a supervisor.  Definitely a SCAM! I am a manager of a call center and know what a legitimate company will and won't do and what is legal and not.

Same as everyone else with the 200 voucher and code    how are they getting our numbers the only site i visited was for invitations what the heck how do they get a private contract free cell number?

Yes i recently got that wondering how I payed them e dollar shipping fee but I still haven't received anything so ,I'm jus wondering y and what is it they said id get my card in 5 days

Got the same message, but mine was sign Sent from the DNC If is trying to sound like a political message but offering the gift card and a gas card now Which is against US voting laws as well. But I am sure this is NOT from the Democratic National Commitee. Other than that it is structured just like the others. Whoever these scammers are, just added a federal felony to their list, Contact the Secretary of State office if you recieve one of these and let them follow it up. This will allow the Federal Goverment to pursue them overseas

I just recveived the same text. I filed a complaint with the FCC and contacted my cell provide to make sure I will nto get charged for this text. I also am registered on the Do Not Call list. I thinks its absurd how people get scammed!!! My suggestion would be to not comply with them by calling, texting a reply, or texting "stop" back.....!

Received text at 3:40 p.m. on 8/22/10. $20 Wal-mart card & $50 gas card. Gift Code: RRV200.  I am also on the Do Not Call List.

I got the same txt msg, went to my cell co.'s web site and blocked all calls/messages from that number.
