Who owns this number

Possible Internet hacking scam online. An alert pops up and disables your computer and says the only way to fix it is by calling this number.

It's more than just a possibility, it is definitely a scam to gain access to your computer. You computer is not actually disabled. If you try to close that pop up, it will reopen but a new check box "Prevent this window from reopening" will appear near the bottom of the popup. Check the box then close the window. Next, clear the cache, browsing history and cookies from your browser. Close the browser and reboot and you should be fine.  If the above doesn't work, use Task Manager to close your browser then reboot. Open your browser and clear cache, etc as above.

These popups are embedded in ad servers common to many website. The website itself has little control over the ads that appear so cannot easily filter out these browser hijacks the scammers feed into the ad servers.

Just got the pop-up on my desktop with VERY LOUD voice telling me my computer was infected and I needed to call this number immediately as all my information was being stolen. I immediately shut down and googled the number.
