Smart Shopper Savings Club - supposedly collecting a debt - My son thought he had to register with this company in order to qualify/ better his chances for a scholarship, to which they agreed it would help his chances of obtaining such. I had a lengthy one sided conversation with the "DEBT collection" agent, Jeff Clayton, today, who would not listen, just went on with the spiel of verbal commitments made by my son, stated that my son told him he could pay the debt off on the 30th of the month - he would give me / and him as break and discount a fee from 1786.15 to 1268.00 then went down to 900 some and finally to 725.
They will not let you cancel "membership" and tell you that you are ruining your credit with Smart Shopper Savings Club - this translated to my son as ruining HIS CREDIT.

DON"T get involved with these charlatans - the people that work that call center should be ashamed of themselves!

I got a call from this number too, claiming to be IDS Identity Protection Plus and spoke with  a "Mark Myurphy" claiming theyd been sending me invoices since i signed up with them in October of 2011.  He played me a recording of my conversation with the lady of the Smart Shopper Savings Club but it was inaudible.  I do remember cancelling this membership for the Smart Shoppers Savings Club + the Identity Protection services, though at the time they had a different name for their Identity Protection company and when i did cancel they said i needed to send a $25.00 cancellation fee in the form of a cashiers check to their mailing address which i did just to get them off my back.  I haven't recieved an invoice atall from this supposed company and when i asked for the address of the company they wouldnt give it to me because "my mailing privliges have been revoked" which is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. The first time i tried sending the cashiers check it came back to my house with a note saying "unknown address". He got really frustrated when i wouldnt give him my debit card number, and said he was going to ruin my credit so i hung up.  If anyone knows who to report these kinds of companies to, please comment.
