Depending on your state, you will either be mailed the papers or handed the summons by a “process server” or by your local sheriff. If you do not respond to the complaint in time, the creditor can obtain a default judgment against you, which, depending on your state, can be used to garnish your wages, put a lien on your property, and/or levy your bank account(s). Typically you will have to pay a filing fee in order to file an answer to the complain. - Legal counsel to the military replies to F@#$ING DONE!!Deadbeats are notorious as professional dodgers -eventually they slip-up and located! If you do not respond to the complaint in time, the creditor can obtain a default judgment against you, which, depending on your state, can be used to garnish your wages, put a lien on your property, and/or levy your bank account(s). Be aware, when a binding contract was signed, it clearly states if you default on your financial obligation and the creditor has to pursue you through litigation you will also be responsible for the litigation fees which include court cost and their attorney fees.
If you plan to record telephone calls or in-person conversations (including by recording video that captures sound), you should be aware that there are federal and state wiretapping laws that may limit your ability to do so. These laws not only expose you to the risk of criminal prosecution, but also potentially give an injured party a civil claim for money damages against you. A violation of Penal Code § 632 can lead to a fine of up to $2,500 and/or imprisonment for up to a year. In addition, the violator may be subject to civil liability in the amount of $3,000 or three times the amount of any actual damages sustained as a result.

I'm totally ignoring this. I don't have time for this BS. If this was legitimate, the family would have know all about it by now and the "process sever" would have known where to serve. I will suggest to the family that they file a complaint. I DO NOT want this trickling over to my mother-in-law who is still grieving for her husband. Ridiculous and cruel...
