I received phone calls to my home phone about some guy I've never heard of.  I tell them to take me off their list, they comply but never do it.  I Googled them and found out their contact information below.  They are debt collectors who have gone offshore to India/Pakistan and Central America because of lower labor costs and to AVOID US LAWS regarding collection protocols.  

I also discovered that my local phone carrier can CALL BLOCK them.  For AT&T users, this plan is called "Privacy Manager" which insists that all callers ID themselves to you before your phone will ring at home.  Then you can choose to accept, decline, or tell them 'No Sales Calls.'  For $5 a month, I'm buying it.

I had a phone call today from this number. I suspected it
was some kind of weird bill collection. "Mary" was the
return name to call and the voice was tooo upbeat and
cheery to be be anything but fraudulent. It may be inbound
from offshore to the U.S. If it happens again I will
report the violation of the law here in CA: you can't
use robotic dialers without a live human getting my per-
mission.

I just called the number in Orem, UT reported by Bill: Phone: (801) 223-9600. The human operator there denied any connection with 1-877-728-8912. Then I had the bright idea to call their toll free through a proxy 800# I use for overseas calls as a Tel3Advantage customer. Their system calls 1-877-728-8912 and "invalid number" and will not complete the call. That's never happened before on any call I've made. I'm going to let it go for now and see if they attempt to contact me... -R.

Repeated automated calls from 1-877-728-8912, claiming to be "Mary from the Message Center" asking me to call back to discuss "a personal matter." Since these calls were placed to my cellular phone, it is a clear violation of FCC regulations, as well as the do not call list. Filed a complaint form 1088G with the FCC, but don't expect much. Will just ignore in the future.

AMERICAN AGENCIES....i just got a call..said i owe at&t over $1,000 from back in 96!!!! well come to find out they had the wronge guy..same name..wronge guy..then i thought..wait! a sec!..how in the heck did they get my number! it's a work phone,not under my name, and the times i did put it any where, i thought i was putting it on a secured site!!..wth!

These people have called my cell phone 7 times in the last 2 weeks.  They always called to early for me and never left a message. Once I was finally awake early enough to pick up ( I work swing shift ) and I got a jaunty sounding woman from a "message center" who had "personal business to discuss" and to please return the call. Now, I have never contracted with a message service, and I felt if a coperation had personal business to discuss with me, they should A) call me personally, and B) leave a message! I didn't call them back. Our credit reports are clean, too. We are paid up on all our bills.  Since they didn't say who they were attempting to contact, I have no idea if they even have the right number!  This is a bad way to operate a business!

Like all you before me, I have been receiving multiple automated phone calls from Allied Data Corp, which is apparently seeking some deadbeat from at least four years ago.  I have had my phone number for over three years, and unfortunately it must have been the number of some deadbeat before me.  I have called Allied Data Corp in Houston TX, explained their error, and requested my number be removed from their computer.  That worked for a little while, but now the automated phone calls are back.  

Today I filed an online complaint with the Houston, TX, Better Business Bureau, against Allied Data Corporation.  I encourage you all to do the same.

I also have received several calls from "Mary from the Message Center with a personal matter to discuss" asking me to call 1-877-728-8912.  I am just ignoring these calls.  Anyone who does not identify themselves and state the reason for their call does not deserve a return call.

I keep getting repeated calls from this number. I just now emailed them with a cease and desist letter and I will be sending one by mail also. It worked with a collection agency I dealt with before. For those who want to find out how to write a cease and desist letter, here is the website.

I've been getting the same messages from 'mary' for the last 2 week or so on my cell #. I finally picked up instead of letting it go to voice mail, still an automated message. i finally called the 877 728 8912 # to find out what it was about and its from an SBC (which is now AT&T) account i had back in mid-late 90's where they claimed i owed them $100 or so. Now its up to close to $1000. I keep getting phone calls about this every year or so from a new collection agency.

Ever since I emailed the cease and desist letter, I have not heard from the annoyingly cheery Mary.
