- Toothpick| 10 repliesThis number belongs to Equifax Customer Assistance. The representatives sound to me as if they are in another country. I spoke with three and none were intelligible. What is Equifax hiring???

- Tina| 6 repliesThis number is NOT Equifax. I thought it looked funny as a lot of 877 numbers are crooked so I went to the Equifax website (not using the email contact) and looked up their customer service number, and it was not the same number. But, I thought, maybe they set up a different number for the hacking issue, so I called the customer service number from the website. They told me that I was the first person to report this and they had not sent out emails and they had no knowledge of that number. After placing me on hold, he came back and said he had reported it to his boss, who said the number does not belong to Equifax. DON'T CALL THIS NUMBER. The hackers already know who is jumpy about their information being hacked and they are playing on those fears. Only use numbers off the genuine Equifax website.

- NilaI got an email with this phone number attached saying this wa to sign up for the monitoring offered by Equifax from their breach. There was a link asking for my birthdate. I was suspicious and called the number. It was some foreign lady who just kept saying she did not understand my question about being concerned about this being a phishing scam. When I called the number from the Equifax web page, she could not identify that number.

- DD replies to Tina| 1 replyI called Equifax through the security 2017 website and they verified this is legit. On another note if you took the steps to see whether or not your info was breached their security website confirmed that you would be receiving an email with the final steps to put their customers under life lock. I also took an additional step by setting up a fraud alert through Experian and TransUnion due to this breach as they are on board to help out people who have been affected. Good luck :) hope that helps.
