- JB Muller| 2 repliesParty called my mother's number regarding some debt they claim I owe. Per FCRA LAW YOU CANNOT GO TO JAIL OVER ANY DEBT FUTHERMORE PARTY IS ILLEGALLY PROVIDING DEBT INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTY THAT IS NOT PRIVY TO ANY DEBTS YOU MAY OWE.... HIGHLY ILLEGAL!! ADVISE YOUR RELATIVES TO IGNORE and BLOCK THESE PEOPLE!!@@

- BigA replies to JB Muller| 1 replyYou should take the time to actually read the laws involved instead of making up wild ideas and purposely trying to mislead people. The FCRA law known as the Fair Credit Reporting Act says nothing about going to jail or has anything at all to do with debt collection. It covers Credit Reporting which is why that is in the name of the law. The rest of your post makes no sense.

- SDSThe call came in from 855-379-1770. They left a message stating my maiden name and identifying themselves as Leinhardt Legal Services. Went on to say I need to return their call by end of business day. Said they have my SS# and are collecting on an outstanding balance on a past due account. Return phone number they gave is 877-749-8418. I will not be returning their call, as I have no outstanding balances anywhere. Call came up as SPAM RISK on my caller ID.

- MCalled yesterday asked to confirm social security number. Repeatedly asked how to spell the company name and spelled the last name incorrectly. Then got loud and said “I know you hear me. What do you need a hearing aid”. I found a business with a similar name that has someone’s personal phone number listed. They called two relatives, but never me…. And they had my info. Said it was a debt from some bank I haven’t had in over 20 years. They also said it was a debt from one state yesterday and the state I’m currently in. They also don’t seem to know any laws about debt. I actually was like ok summons me. She didn’t like that. She stated a bank account routing and account number over the phone. My info was sold on the dark web 3 weeks ago and then this started to happen.

- Bigred18| 1 replyI received a phone call from 833-883-2145 which I didn’t answer. The message that was left was the same as what others claimed, “This is Reinhart Legal Services, our client has provided proof of several attempts to communicate this matter with you. It is absolutely important to hear back before the end of the business day etc.” The return number they left is 877-749-8418. I do not plan on returning the call.

- BigA replies to Bigred18Whenever someone tells you that they are a "lawyer" or that they work for a lawyer or law firm, the first question you should ask is what state(s) they are registered in and their BAR number for that/those state(s). Then go to that state and check them out, contact them directly using the information in the state registration, as these crooks have been known to research real law firm names and attorney names and impersonate them.
The fake process server/location specialist scam usually contains:
They mention that they have received a Fax document or that some sort of complaint has “come across my desk” and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency. They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer). They threaten to serve you at home or at work. They tell you that if they serve you at work they need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work. They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID. None of which is true. Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them. Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else. They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”. Court documents are time sensitive and have to be served within a certain amount of time. Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there is actually a lawsuit that has been filed against you.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter, email, or text (postmarked in the case of a letter) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. Unless they have communicated it to you verbally at the beginning of your conversation. It also must contain the “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this communication must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that communication you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: https://800notes.com/faq/attorney-general - StaceeMy husband and daughter have both received voicemails for me saying if I don’t call them today concerning a debt that I owe, they will send someone to my home or place of employment. After the first voicemail, I called them back at this number to find out what it was. The first red flags were that they had an address I haven’t used for almost ten years and an email I never had. When I started asking questions the guy began yelling at me until I hung up on him. He immediately called back, leaving a threatening voicemail. Today, instead of calling me personally, they called my daughter. So I called them back and told them to stop harassing my family, I know it’s a scam, and that I had reported them to the federal trade commission. The second I said those words, the person on the phone hung up.

- John GardnerSomeone saying they are with Reinhardt legal services left a voicemail on my wife’s phone saying this was the last attempt before legal action. When I called the number back and questioned the debt he began cursing and threatening me. I called back and a woman answered and she said they had me on speakerphone and began with the same language and threats Clearly after all that I knew this wasn’t legit . So I gave them some of my vocabulary until they hung up. lol I’m not done yet I will call and harass them daily now.

- Chris| 1 replySo I got a call from the same company as stated by others above, I did have a outstanding balance in the state mentioned for a loan, I agreed to set up a payment plan I explained things might changed with work due to my wallet being stolen at work, all was fine, when he put me on hold my wife said attorneys don’t do that you need to research them and so I did he came back on the line and I started asking questions which he didn’t like he said sure I’ve been on the phone with you for 20 minutes I need to get this payment plan set up with an attitude, I said what else better do you have to do this is your job isn’t it! Then I got upset and hung up, he blew my phone up calling 4 times, then my phone said my mom was calling, I picked it up and it wasn’t my mom it was him and he said and I quote “ No wonder you got your wallet stolen you little girl “ I called back but i had my phone on record this time he answered and denied doing it. Do not talk to these people.
