Fake call from chase bank. Went to my personal business banker who called security after trying to get real info from them- they couldn't give him basic security answers.

Hah, when I called them back they said it was in reference to my business banking card.  When I queried her as to which card it was since she said she was calling on behalf of Chase, she said just a minute and hung up.

This was a fake call from Chase bank.  It is part of a "fishing" scam according to chase where they try to obtain more information for fraudulent uses.  BEWARE!  Don't give anyone any information if they are not calling from a familiar number.

Just go to your telephone company web site and BLOCK the offending number, so it will not be able to come thru.
But that's nothing permanent, because those Caller ID spoofers use a number for one day or so, then start to use some other number. The numbers they use are abandoned numbers, not yet reassigned by the telephone companies.
    From Wikipedia:

Caller ID spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's Caller ID display which is not that of the actual originating station. The term is commonly used to describe situations in which the motivation is considered malicious by the speaker or writer. Just as e-mail spoofing can make it appear that a message came from any e-mail address the sender chooses, Caller ID spoofing can make a call appear to have come from any phone number the caller wishes. Because of the high trust people tend to have in the Caller ID system, spoofing can call the system's value into question.

It is amazing that such a crooked practice is allowed to go on!
Where are the feds when I need them????? I wrote to my US Rep...no response!

Bottom line: IGNORE IT and never give the other side ANY information. PERIOD!

    WOW,

Just received a call from this number also on my cell phone, caller was VERY Pushy and RUDE, I asked for a number and ext to call them back which I was given 877-763-3440 ext 32110. I goggled the number before calling back took me less then one minute. When I called back I was grilled once again, I stopped her and asked her was she aware of these postings? I had to talk over her three times before she would listen. I then read four of them to her and gave her the web site. I reminded her that she told me I was being recorded so I said kindly have your supervisor review what I was trying to tell her and why I was hesitant to talk freely to her........When the number she provided to me could not be googled back to a illegitimate business, only to a site with complaints.....

Got a message from this same number -- said they were with Chase Business services.  Called them back and they couldn't tell me why they called me in the first place and put me on hold.  Checked the number on this website and hung up.

Received a call from a number claiming to be Chase Lending Services (302) 758-1000. I called this number (877) 763-3440 back and contrary to the comments above, this is legitimately Chase. I only gave them my phone number on my account and they were able to access the reason they were calling.

Yes, they did put me on hold to look-up my information, but I didn't tell them anything other than my phone and last four of the SSN.

This scam is active again in 2015 using this number as a call back number.  I see a new twist in that they are posting on several of these reverse phone lookup websites indicating that it is a legitimate chase phone number.  It's not.  If chase really wanted to get ahold of me, they'd email me, send me a text or mail me a letter.  They wouldn't be calling from an "unknown number" and leaving curious voice messages without even identifying themselves.   It's a fishing expedition.

Received a call from Chase Fraud Prevention Services on a Sunday after afternoon. I asked to call them back and they gave this number: 1-800-278-8830. I wondered if it was in relation to a credit card application that I had recently filed.   I called two other numbers: a general inquiry from Chase and they said that they did not have a phone in service at that number. I cannot locate that number. I called a second number, a specialized Chase credit card number at 1-800-432-3117.  They said that the credit card processors do not work on Sunday. They said that I can check on my application at 1-877-463-3440. I see on another board that this last number is listed as a fraud number. However, I can tell you that I got that number from Chase rep on a  phone number as listed on the internet. I still do not know if this data storm is a valid or not. I will call the last number tomorrow and see what turns out.

Beware, this scam is still around. Just received a call from 480-921-4015 which I didn't pick up, and they left a VM with a correct name and asking to "call Chase 877-763-3440 for important matter". People, beware!

Shockingly, it's a real number for chase lending department.  I called the number on the back of my credit card directly and they just transferred me over.

This is a scam.  Just spoke to Chase customer service, via the phone number on the back of my card, and they confirmed Chase never leaves a call-back number like that. Instead, you always have to call the main customer service line and then be transferred.

Received a call from 302-427-3930 on my cell; it went to voice mail. Message claimed caller was Chase Lending and asked that I call back at 877-763-3440. After first looking at this site, I called the regular Chase customer service number and found out no one at Chase was trying to contact me.
My conclusion is that this is a phishing expedition. Needless to say, I did not call either of the two numbers.

Just took a phone call from Daniel Refusetogivelastname at my workplace. Stated he was from Chase Lending Service and wanted to "confirm" some information. I asked why he was calling me at work.He said he wanted to confirm some info. I said, "Go." He stumbled, said he wanted to leave a message. I said why, start talking. He insisted on leaving a call back number. I asked in regards to what, made him repeat the number and he bumbled some more. Then googlednumber and found this site. Putting this summary here to keep the thread current.
