This "company" registered out of the state of Florida, Precise Mediation LLC, which was only opened on 5/24/2011 (4 months after they called me) has got some balls! They first contacted me from their toll free number 877-763-7717 and a woman named Karen Mitchell tried telling me we had a payday loan outstanding that was taken out January 2010 (almost 2 years ago) in which there were "bad checks" associated with it and criminal acts including jail and court would be filed against us if we didn't pay the balance in full of $1660 TODAY. I said this is ridiculous I have no paperwork on this claim, who the hell are you! And she claimed they were attorneys, also that they had the ability to settle the debt for 50% today to stop the prosecution if I paid it in full. I told them I didn't have a cc with me so I'd call them back after I looked into it. The next day a woman named "Jay Hampton" called me with the same claim from the same company and number. She was even more persistent and used legal threats. I told her "Karen" told me yesterday I could call back at my convenience and I asked her for her bar number since they claimed they were a law firm. She snapped at me saying "Karen" has no authority to make that offer to you, and no they weren't a law firm, but a "mediation firm". I somehow got manipulated into making a $100 dollar payment to "hold" the debt so I wasn't prosecuted. She gave me 10 days to make the final payment. The next day I called back and demanded to speak to someone who could give me information IN WRITING that they had the authority to collect on the supposed debt, and I demanded to know the original creditor or I was reversing the $100 payment I made and filing suit. She had "a compliance officer" call me back to tell me the lender was JVC Processing and BMG Payday Group was the group that authorized the loan. While I do remember taking a few payday loans, I also know that for under $500 in unpaid debt, they generally do not go after you, especially in the legal route. End of the story is, they sent me a "receipt" which I had to demand after 24 hours of making the $100 payment from a GMAIL ACCOUNT "precisemediation@gmail.com" (how convenient) it was in doc format, so I could essentially edit it myself for the full amount if I wanted to. No signature was on it. I then contacted the State of Florida where their registered address is out of - which is also a "PO BOX!" PO Box 442223 Jacksonville, FL 32222 and had them look up the company. They said they were not authorized as a collection agency, certainly not a law firm, and they had no authorization to collect on debt in the state of FL or anywhere else. I needed one more piece of information for those [***] so I knew I wasn't in any real trouble if in fact the debt really was unpaid. I called JVC processing to see if they contracted with this company to sell old debts. #1, my ss# or name wasn't even in the system! They told me if they really had the authority to have the county "pick me up" as they claimed, they needed to send the paperwork. And that there was no other correlation to them and BMG. It was all bogus. I changed my debit card, reversed the $100 payment, filed a BBB Complaint on them, and also have the State of FL investigated them. Have fun in hell [***]!

The exact same thing happened to me! On Sep. 29, 2011 that Karen Mitchell called me n asked me all these questions. Also told me that they had me on camera giving a hot check and the payday loan company wanted to charge me w/ 3 counts of fraud! I had never been involved in anything like this so i panicked! I called the company where I got the payday loan then the collections department for them n that's when they told me it was a scam!!!! I was almost talked into paying 300 dollars!!! I made a report to the county sheriff's so I can have on file n maybe b useful if I need it in the future! Please dont let them fool you! Better yet don't even añswer 800 numbers.

I answered the phone at my mother's house today.  I was suspicious when the caller, Rachel Watts, said she was calling from Precise Mediation.  She said there was a "worthless check" written in October, 2010 and they wanted to confirm some information to determine whether my mother had written it or whether there was fraud.  When I said I wouldn't put my mother on the phone she gave me her callback number and then tried to pass me on to her manager Amber Williams. The call didn't transfer so I called back (I was curious).  The recording just said, "Thank you for calling.  If you know your party's extension..."  -- no name of the company was given, so I knew something was fishy.  I dialed the extension and eventually spoke to Amber Williams.  Ms. Williams asked for lots of information about my mother and I wouldn't give any.  I told her she could tell me what she had and I would either confirm or deny, so she did.  She had all sorts of wrong information about past addresses, wrong birthdate, wrong middle initials (she tried two of them), wrong places of employment, wrong names of relatives, and in between every few questions she'd put me on hold and come back.  I kept refusing to answer questions that would give her any details, even when she said that my mother could be prosecuted for fraud, and I told her it obviously wasn't my mother from the information she had but we'd just deal with it in court if that was the case.  She finally gave up and hung up.  Thankfully, I manage my mother's finances, so even if they call again and speak to her, she won't be able to make any payments to this phony company.

    IT'S A SCAM
The same thing happened to me.  This Karen Mitchell has been calling me regarding a payday loan that has been unpaid in 2009 so she said.  Told me I would be prosecuted if I didn't pay today by 12pm.  I told them I don't have the money.  Then I spoke to a Cheryl Lewis who stated she would help me.  I said where is the information if the payday company that I had the loan with has been trying to reach me for an unpaid loan.  I did pay it back.  I have never received anything from them if this is the truth.  They had no answers.  They told me they were sending someone to my home to pick me up for check fraud.  I just closed my accounts out and now will call the State of Fl and the BBB to file a complaint.  They are torturing people for money and it's a scam.

    STOP SLANDERING THIS COMPANY

It sounds like a few of you are not disputing that you have this unresolved matter out there, but you are upset that these people are contacting you to make good with it.  To Stop The Scams: you openly state “so I could essentially edit it myself for the full amount if I wanted to”.  How were you manipulated into paying $100 on something and admit that you will revise the information if you didn’t owe it?  To Lonnie: you also admit to have taken a loan but did not say you resolved it.  You stated, “She knew info about the payday loan I got but it was back in 2008!”  To lesliej: you received a call in regards to your mother.  If the personal information did not match, it could have clearly been someone with the same name as your mother.  To it’s a scam: how is it a scam when you clearly say, “This Karen Mitchell has been calling me regarding a payday loan that has been unpaid in 2009”?  Personally, I was concerned as well which is why I’m on this site.  I am also fully aware that I had this situation unresolved.   I am glad they contacted me so I could resolve my obligation and put this behind me.  It is bad that YOU PEOPLE ARE SLANDERING this company for doing their job!  None of you (excluding lesliej) said you didn’t get the loan or that you paid it back.  It seems like you all are professional debtors and the scam artists.  Again, I am glad they called me, I resolved it, and it is now behind me!

How about everytime you call Karen Mitchel is in court?  The court must be in the building because she calls you right back.  How could this company get away with bilking money from people?  The called my father's home who is 80 year's old.  I knew it was a scam when first of all he doesn't even know how to work a computer and they said he took out a payday day loan.  He has enough money that he doesn't need a payday loan.  They also said he took a payday loan out 2 years ago he's had alzheimers for the passed 4 years.  Hello!!!!  They need to be prosecuted.  I have filed as well with BBB and State Attorney General's Office.  This is a crock!!!

Whoever you are, you are so wrong.  This a scam.  People who get pay day loans to pay them back, because they have access to your bank account and trust me they do get their money.  If they were so eager to get paid why do they wait 4-5 yrs. to claim it.  I spoke to a lawyer inference to this and it is A SCAM.  If you paid them because you were indebted to them, good for you, but the majority of us aren't.  That's why we are telling people about them!!!!!!!!!!

I looked into a payday loan back in February of 2012. I was never contacted to confirm the loan. I NEVER EVEN RECEIVED THE MONEY. Over the past few weeks I've received calls from this number. Today in May of 2015, I was contacted by an attorney contracted by JVC processing (the company linked to this number) telling me that I defaulted on the loan  (yes I went to my bank and got the statements for all of 2012 to double check that I didn't receive the money). And that I owed them $2,800 on a $300 loan. The attorney had no info on JVC and told me that the company was going to take me to court. I'm sick of the calls and threats when I didn't even receive the money.

"I was contacted by an attorney contracted by JVC processing"

By phone call ? Tell them to mail you proof.
By email ? Tell them to mail you proof.
By mail ? Did they enclose proof or just hint they had proof ?

Proof means they disclose how the money was paid to you.
Makes me suspect someone used your identity to give themselves the money, into a separate bank account they opened using your identity.
Get the documentation. Hope you won't need a lawyer.

    Hi,

This just happened to me today at work. The person claims this is from 2011, four years ago. I refused to anything and asked them to provide some proof. Of course the person hung up. Can you let me know how this ended?

I was just contacted today. Someone claiming there is a bad check and unpaid loan from 2011. I immediately left work and went to my bank to order the statements from 2011 since they are no longer available online that far back. I told them to mail me something as I never received any correspondence and worked damn hard to pay all of those loans off that I took out when I was young and frivolous. He hung up. I did a court case search and saw nothing being filed against me here.  I am about to consult an attorney,

For the last 3 days I have been getting calls from someone called Amber Collins and she says she is with Capital Risk Services and trying to collect a debt from April 2009. She said I had an online payday loan that I did not pay which I know is false. Is any one else getting these calls?

How can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:

The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.

The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.

The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.

The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.

Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
    The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.

Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
    Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
    Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.

Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.

Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).

This exact situation is happening to me also. They called me last week, saying they were a "processing firm" and that I had an outstanding payday loan from 2010 for $976 and a company was suing me, JVC Processing, who apparently represnts several payday loan companies. I told her to send me some informaiton and she said she was just the server and would mail me something stating I was being sued and I had to go to court. I told her to go ahead and send it. She had all my information, SSN, address, cell phone number, and the name of my bank. Luckily, she didn't have my account numb er. Then a week late she called my son and told him the same thing about me. I called her back and got the same woman. I can't hardly understand her. I demanded some proof of this and she put me on hold for a long time and I finally hung up. I will try calling back today.
