I got a computer message to call this number which said it was Microsoft. Presumably I had a virus and I was to call this number to report it. I powered off my computer and assumed this was a scam

sysblocked97.com error message .... it is a virus/scam type thing I am sure.  Same message as Marty above.

Just got the same exact message as Shepard.  Called the number and some dude in India wanted to get remote access to my computer to "diagnose" the error.  I hung up them

I just got this same sysblocked97.com error and it made it look like a Microsoft area.  The same phone number as well.  Microsoft should be very upset.

Just had an error page muscle to the front of my screens, saying that domainerror55.com has blocked my computer, w/ error#36585c339f50699 & ordering me to call (877) 765-8529. It also said that if I closed the page before calling my "...computer access would be disabled to prevent further damage to our network". Also said that [my] "...computer has alerted us that it has been infected with a spyware and a virus. Our systems detected that the following information is compromised: Facebook Login, Credit Card Number, Email Account Login & Photos stored on this computer". Last paragraph says "Please call us immediately so that our engineers can walk you through the removal process over the phone. A certified Windows Support agent is standing for your call right now". Having read a previous post by Marty, I powered off my computer immediately, just now restarted it & everything looks fine. Funny thing is, I have MSE on that device & when I checked it there were no issues. A pox upon the noxious vermin who perpetuate these scare tactics!!

Was the scam message "Your computer has been blocked" still showing when you powered off your computer?  I am leery of turning off my computer by turning it off while this message is showing.

Go to www.malwarebytes.org and install the free download. I called the # as well and they wanted nothing more than to remote into my computer. When I told them I was running a scan first, they became very nervous on the phone. Definitely a scam.

Pretty much the same issue as the posts above.  Error code was 36585c40ebc9631 mine seemed to originate from domainerror55.com.  With instructions to call 1-877-765-8529 right away before closing the window.  Of course it would not allow closing the browser tab so rather than power down as others have done, I did a task manager and ended all occurrences of Chrome that showed running.  Then I reopened Chrome.  I don't notice anything funky and also assume this is a scam.

I wish I had seen Terri's message  or any of these. I feel like an idiot. I fell for it to a point. I got the same message, called the number, they claimed to be Microsoft, I asked questions they seemed to answer, did the remote access, showed a screen with programs shutdown because of some kind of malware my computer was infected with. The page they showed had warnings and alerts - looked official for someone who knows next to nothing about this stuff. They wanted to sell me Super Antispyware for $299. for 1 year. I said no.can't afford it. He switched me to his manager who stressed how important it was to take care of the computer & lowered the price to $179. Again I said No. He offered another $20. off. Again I turned him down. He then suggested I borrow it from a friend or relative. At that point I knew this was all so very wrong. I ended the conversation. I found the same page he showed me, there were programs stopped but there weren't any warnings or alerts. So I Googled the telephone number and found this site. Crap!

FYI, I was cleaning out my email and opened an email that was sent by a trusted source.  Or so I thought. The kicker is....this email was sent to me 3 years ago.  Moral of the story: if it's that old, delete.

The same message came up on my computer. I called the number I guy from India answered the phone. Said he worked for microsoft told me to type in www.helpme.net and then i asked him if i need to give him access to my computer he said yes. i went to Geek Squad and they closed down my computer and told me it was a scam. And then they checked for viruses. Nothing found.
