Threatened to suspend DL if I didn't pay.  They claimed I owed on an old payday loan that I have no recollection of ever taking out.

I first received a call from Nick Davenport with Legal Mediation Services who told me I owed a payday loan and today was the last day to pay or I would be arrested and spend 180 days in jail and have to pay a bond to get out.  They then transferred me to United Financial at 877-774-0226 where a woman named Ashley Walker told me to go to a CVS Pharmacy and make payment through a moneygram and only after I called her back with a confirmation number would they send me any information about this debt.  When I called back both phone numbers it kept ringing and ringing or a generic answering machine came on.

Demanding immediate payment VIA Moneygram in return for verification of an alleged debt are both red flags that this is an illegal debt collection operation. You pay a debt only when you have legitimate, verifiable proof that you owe it---and not the other way around.

If they call again, let them know you are aware they are running an extortion scam and intend to have them traced and prosecuted for attempted extortion and wire fraud.

I got the same type of call as sickofscamsdid from the same group of people. They would not tell me who I am supposed to owe. they said that they would tell me when I paid all the money. They said if I did not pay charges would be brought against me. They also said that they sent me legal papers that I never got.

I received the same phone call from Ashley Walker with the same information above.  She call me as of Monday the 7/25/16 at 9:46 am. I told her I did not have in any money. She stated that    I would be going to jail. I asked her who I supposed have owe. she could not tell me.  She said they received this debt as a third party. I stated and you can't tell me who.  She then stated she would call me back but she hadn't.

Stated I owed a payday loan and said I had 2 felonies and needed 60% to make sure the state wouldn't be involved! I didn't send the money and am seeking legal advice

This a scam.  Try to get money from me.   Started with a MIchelle White and transferred me to Ashley Walker so funds could be sent.   Did some investigating with Ohio attorney general and this is a scam.   Also called prosecutors office and they told me it was a scam.  Be careful.

I had the exact same thing happen to me that you just stated in your above paragraph............word for word, but my contact person was named Lisa Carter.
I contacted MoneyGram and they are looking into it, but they refused to give me any contact information on United Financial, so I called the police and reported the whole thing.
I told MoneyGram, that I hold them just as responsible for accepting businesses into their company, without having a thorough background check on the company that collecting through them.   I am going after MoneyGram to get my money back and I think anyone who has used them and been scammed should do the same thing.   They are just as guilty as United Financial.

I received multiple calls from this number 8777740226 they were very threatening telling me if I didn't go to CVS and send money I'd be arrested. I try to call them back its a generic voice mail.

Received a phone call from 877-774-0226, Michelle Stewart saying that I owed money for a pay day loan from back in 2012 from a place called equity funding and if I did not pay a warrant would be sent for my arrest. To keep from getting the warrant I needed to settle out of court and needed to send cash thru Wal-Mart or CVS with a money gram, no cash or credit card allowed. This phone call was very upsetting and disturbing because they knew my name (misspelled though), where I lived and my phone number.

I had the same experience as those listed above first call was voicemail from (419)960-2943 who transferred me to Ashley Walker who cave me the 877-774-0226 and Money-gram instructions stating they were in Jacksonville FL with a pin and account number.  They all refused to give me any validation of the debt which I requested multiple times saying they did not have to but I could hear someone in the background screaming at somebody that it wasn't their fault they took out a payday loan the whole thing was just so suspicious that I haven't done anything and won't.  The thing was they knew my SSN my home address and my DL number (I went through hell when I tried to file my taxes because someone had filed a return in my name and the IRS wanted their money back it took 4 months of correspondence with the IRS but finally got it resolved.  I have MS and I do forget things but these folks are crooks. BEWARE

Just received the same call today. First call came from 440 328-8599 from a Shelby Graves stating she was from Legal mediations out of Ohio a third party firm of pre trial diversion unit because my husband received a payday loan back in 2012 that was never paid back,  through a company named Equity Funding that is a middleman for others. Couldn't give me who we got the actual loan from or for what amount, let alone when. Stated back in Jan. 15, 2012 we received courier at home concerning this and emails. But, today was the last day to make this right and to pay a restitution of $983.50 to make it go away or it would be filed in our state courts and legal action taken. Had old acct # ss# and place of work info. Said we could make 3 paymts via money gram  also through walmart or cvs to make it go away To United Financial Jacksonville Fl.  And transferred me to Ashley Walker to make these arrangements was told if did not follow through with these arrangements it would be worse for us and someone would be sent to our home.  Tried looking up first # according to google it belongs to Keller reality so I called it back thats when I got Shelby. But the next Number I was given leads me here. I also asked several times for loan info and who and what amount we owe. Going to call authorities and check further.

I got a call and her name was Tiffany with United Financial she told me i had two felonies against me because my bank account closed back in 2014 when i had taken a pay day loan out. I have a debt consolidation program i have been working with for 2 years so i did take out loans before hand but they advised me to get a new bank account so they can work with all my creditors. They even got power of attorneys. This lady was telling me that debt consolidation means for bankruptcy i believe is what she said. I was crying and panicking, she then said she will speak with her supervisor and put me on hold, she came back and She told me that i had to pay with a moneygram by 11:59pm . she told me that i would be thrown in jail if they pushed this through. I could not tell if it was true or not. she spoke perfect English, sounded like a black woman. I ended up paying them , they told me i could only pay by money gram and to call back 877-774-0226 when i did .  When I called them back I asked who t his loan belonged to they said my equity funding works with my cash, i told them i do not recall taking that out . she then said maybe someone i know did . I said no not that i am aware of she then said hold let me and the line disconnected. When i called right back she was unable to speak with me. I dont know. I feel like i thought i was doing the right thing by consolidating and taking their advice. My consolidation company thinks its a scam because they said noone should call and tell you you have 2 felonies and to pay by moneygram. I dont know if this is real. I thought i was taking care of this if i did not want to pay i would have not set up the debt consolidation if i was running. I feel like a criminal now and they really have taken alot more then money from at this point. Help anyone?
