Thank God for all above who posted this scam about this company...I got a letter today and I am grateful for all the negative reports on this....It saved me the time and trouble...I had a feeling it was a scam but I would always have wondered ( what if )...Thanks

I received the same letter from ACT and the refunds range from $1,500.00 to $7,800.00.
Another Scam..thanks to All of you who posted...now to the shredder.

Where is our all powerful federal government that exists to protect us from these predators, ACT?  They have a phone number and bank account. Where are the useless regulators?  They are busy bothering honest hard working Americans, or what is left of them.

It's *extremely* difficult for the Feds to prosecute this kind of scam and this is why these scammers can operate in broad daylight and in full view without fear of prosecution (modus operandi). The ACT Program does reduce mortgage interest costs to you if you use it as prescribed. You may even get a works-if-used-as-prescribed guarantee which you can never collect on because it does work. You paid $$$, you got a product/service, it works, it's not defective -- on what issue can you complain? Can't be cost because you knew the cost going in and you'd agreed to it and it works and it's not defective. If you say it's a scam, they will say prove it, you're only calling it a scam because you have buyer's remorse. I call it a scam because the scam is in the marketing used to snare you into buying a works-but-superfluous product and in this case, you will actually *LOSE* money on the deal as described by mikef07 at the top of http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/741118/?start=914 who states "The results do show that by using the MMA software it would cost me $5070.29 extra." (Quick Summary of the scam on page 1 of that thread.) The ACT Program is the $3,500 Money Merge Account repackaged with a new twist to get refunds from your mortgage (used to be "save" interest on your mortgage). New name, new skin, but the same thing. You can achieve the same yourself for FREE but AED https://secure.utah.gov/bes/action/details?entity=1429559-0142 Doing Business As ACT=Accelerated Cashflow Technologies, *WON'T* tell you this or may only tell you in the fine print and who reads the fine print anyway, right? The Feds know they can't win in court so the scam goes on.

JUST REMEMBER FOLKS --- WHAT THE ACT PROGRAM CLAIMS IT CAN DO, YOU CAN DO THE SAME YOURSELF FOR FREE! FREE! FREE!

I received the same letter. It suspected it was a scam so I googled ACT. Sure enought it is a scam. The people have no shame. I any one you know gets one of these letters let them know its a scam.

Received the ACT letter in the mail yesterday.  I thought I smelled a rat, and apparently I did!  The letter is now garbage.  Thanks everyone for the information.

Received this letter yesterday from "ACT" (That was the only clue identifying who this letter came from.)
Definitely part of the SCAM referenced above, thanks to everyone who posted about their experience. The text included my actual mortgage information, which they were able to acquire because all mortgages are a matter of public record.

The letter reads:

"This notice is to inform you that you may be owed a refund of several thousand dollars on your mortgage that funded on xx/xx/xxxx in the amount of $x.xx.
"Based on city and county records your loan as well as many other loans may have been overcharged or miscalculated several thousand dollars.
"While refunds vary, amounts owed can range as high as $1500 to over $7800.00.
"A consumer analysis is available to those that receive this notice. This analysis is provided to determine refund eligibility and interest reduction options with no refinancing required.
"Call now toll free at 1-877-778-4727 for further information. As a part of this mortgage auditing and refund service, please reference eligibility: Xxxxxxxxxx when calling."

Return address on the envelope was P.O. Box 788, Sandy, UT 84091-0788.

So glad I looked up this "Mortgage Audit"/ACT online when I received a letter from them. Now I know it's a scam and a waste of my time. I have to say, I'm a little disappointed, cause who doesn't need the extra money nowadays? That is definitely how they reel people in! That's what almost got me to call. Until I found all this information from you great informants! Thank you so much for posting about these rip offs!

BTW: The number I was supposed to call was 1-877-778-4727. And the letter read just as the person above said they received.

The "interest reduction options with no refinancing required" is the ACT Program that charges $49.95/month for the time it takes you to pay off your mortgage which could be somewhere around 10 years or so. The present value of $49.95/month for 10 years at 1% APR (what savings accounts are paying) is ~$5,700, i.e., the 1-time present cost of $49.95/month is approximately $5,700. The old MMA charged only $3,500 so they've sneakily raised prices by going to a per-month scheme.
Posters report a refund offer of the $149 audit fee if no overcharge is found on your mortgage but your letter does not say this. We got the same letter, sounded too good to be true. I did just as many of you, searched for the 877 number & company and found this through the search results. Thank you all for confirming it is a scam.

So I called the number, and I gave Chrishell the number on the letter. She asked who my mortgage was with, I asked why she didn't know since she has all my other information? She said we get it from public records, in turn I said well you should have my information already. I asked her if it was a scam, and she smuggly replied, do I sound like I am a scam? I said I don't know, from what I read online it does, and ....she hung up.
I called back and asked for a supervisor, the guy asked if he could help, and I said well, I wanted to report the excellent customer service I just recieved. He gave me the email address of CChristensen@ACTDebtFree.com. Of course he couldn't detect the sarcasm in my voice. Figured I would pass it along.

I received this ACT mortgage letter and had my doubts.  Here is my method of dealing with these people and the other frauds that are out there.  Called them and filled them with a bunch of disinformation to screw with them, it was fun and hey they wasted my time so I will waste theirs!  I do the same with prepaid junkmail, tear out my address, circle it in red and write "final notice to remove this address from your mailing list" and I mail it back at their cost.

I wish everyone would make this effort so they would find out that the American public are not as stupid as they think.
