Kaplan is a joke. They don't apply Student Loans to account's. Collection Agency they use is located in Florida. Operates under different names. Florida is one state that lets shady companies operate.ANY CALLS FROM KAPLAN OR THEIR COLLECTION AGENCY HAVE THESE CALL'S FORWARD TO DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS OF YOUR STATE OR WASHINGTON , DC.

Despite numerous WRITTEN requests to not call me, Kaplan University continues to harass me and so I am filing a complaint with the FTC and the Attorney General of Minnesota Office. Thats my suggestion. I have had to do this twice now with other collection agencies, got the FTC website and there you will find a link to file an online complaint. Trust me, after the FTC gets involved, they stop calling. Be a bully with these collection agencies.

Kaplan University is a joke.  I'm in my last term at Kaplan and all the financial aid and student accounts has done is harrase me starting everyday in November of 2009.  When I started their AA program with transferring credits they told me I had no out of pocket.  Of course I had registered and had been in class for three weeks and then they hit me with a $800 out of pocket cost.  I was so furious, I paid the amout off after getting phone calls daily from student accounts and set out for a term.  I check out other colleges but their tuition was about the same as Kaplan and like a fool I went back and they again promise me I had no out of pocket cost until November of 2009 the came up with a $1000 out of pocket cost. I explain to them I had no job and if and I got an extention of unemployment I would pay, they're received aboout $25,000 for this so call AA program from my student loan and have threaten to block me out of class if I don't pay this amount and I only have three weeks left in class.  I set up a payment plan with student accounts three days ago and was promise the calls would stop. Today I got a call from my financial aid advisor and I explain the payment plan with student accounts, she said she didn't know anything about it and she didn't see where I had made a payment.  I told her she better check her email because I cc's her and my academic advisor. She saw my email and said she would update my account and but if I don't make the payment the day I said I would I would get a phone call, I said to her you mean the phone call would come the next and she yeah right. This call and conversation took place on 1/22/2010 at 11:32am, I got a call from student account about my balance on 1/22/20 at 4:32pm.  I can't even concentrate on my classes because of the harrassing calls I get everyday.  I am going to get a lawyer, because if I don't pass these classes I will have to pay for them out of pocket.  Please pray for me because I had no idea Kaplan University who claim to me an higher expense university, their a ripp-off with ignorant people working their.  They also claim this call will be recorded, that's a lie as well, because back when they told me I would not have an out of pocket cost I told them to check their recording and I never heard a word form them.  I don't reccommend anyone attend Kaplan University and that's just my opinion, enter at your own risk.

The name of the company harrassing me is called Pinnacle. I'm glad I found this site, they have been haunting me for a hospital bill I know was paid. They claim I have $900 in outstanding emergency room charges. First, I was sent there by a primary doc. and I have 100% coverage. I don't bother to answer any longer.

This number calls several times a week - never leaves a message.  Can't imagine why they would call me though, I've never dealt with Kaplan in any way, shape or form.Guess they can just keep calling and hanging up, doesn't bother me since i"m not home all day anyhow.

I keep seeing this number on my caller ID but they have yet to leave a message. I've never had anything to do with Kaplan so I guess they are barking up the wrong tree.  They can keep wasting their money to call and hang up when my answering machine picks up.

this company collects for HUNDREDS of places, not just Kaplan.  If they are calling, you must owe someone....even a doctor bill.

Chase Credit Card - already told them last week I was filing and gave them my atty info, but they still call and no message.

I have no idea who these people are, when we answer the phone no-one is there and it usually happens about 5 times in a row.

Just got a call from them today on my cell phone.  I don't answer 800 numbers I don't recognize.  Instead I come here to this site to check them out.  I'm unemployed, have past-due debts, and am trying to come up with the funds to pay a lawyer for bankruptcy.  He says number 1 thing I need to do is not to make any more payments on my debts.  So I follow his advice.  

On my cell, I have a "Reject Call" feature.  I have inputted this number into my Reject Call list.  Once the number is in this list, my phone no longer rings when they call because it rejects the call.  As for my home phone, I screen all my calls on it anyway, and never pick up unless I recognize the person on the other end.  Such is life nowadays.

Have started receiving calls, too. Never been to Kaplan; far as I know, haven't talked to any reps from there, nor have signed up for wanting information through any websites I've visited either. IDK why or how I got on their list, but wanted to provide some info...

It may not be "Kaplan" who is trying to squeeze us for money - these people may be scammers claiming to be collection agencies who have bought old debt and are trying to collect debt you are no longer obligated for.  If you don't owe, I agree - don't pay, but don't just sit back and wait for the next phone call either...if you choose not to opt out, why not restrict their calls to your phone?  (I know, for some of us, that can be a very long list of restricted numbers, lol)
If it's on your credit (you should check) erroneously (you've paid it off, or never had it) you can contact the credit report companies and request that it be removed.  They'll contact Kaplan asking for proof; if it can't be provided, the credit reporters will remove it.
Maybe the daughter put the parent's name on an application for school...this doesn't explain why they'd be contacting the parent, if the parents signed nothing (loan papers, had to show tax forms, etc) for her to get in school.  If she didn't/wouldn't (even if someone else did) it's still harassment.
Calling neighbors!?!  How in the world would they know who your neighbors were, even if you DID have a school loan???  No help on that - wow!!!  But that's harassment, and should be reported to both the BBB and the opt-out line.

Does anyone know what other company Pinnacle may be calling for? I never went to Kaplan and my student loan from the school I did attend is just about paid off (never missed a payment, pay it early every month). My bills are all paid on time. I'm on the Do Not Call registry as well. I tried calling back with no answer at all. The phone just rang and rang. If anyone knows of any other company they could be calling for, please share. Thanks.

I never went to kaplan and have no student loan debt. I called back and the person who answers says "This is Linda..." Not hello or the company name.... I said I just missed a call from this number and she said let me transfer you to the right department, it paused and then dialtone.  They call all day everyday and I am on the DO NOT CALL list.... WTF!!!!
