- Casey replies to Want real jobI fell for it- I just applied for a job through them. I went through the phone call and when they stated they would forward the info to the hiring manager, I asked who that would be (a name or number) so I had a reference to work with. They wouldn't give me a name or phone number to expect a possible call from. How can people find legitimate jobs when outfits like this make it so difficult? Now I think I'll be avoiding all placement agencies I can't walk in to. I usually don't go that route but figured I would give it a shot. It is really too bad as the job was just what I was looking for. They did ask me about the educational aspects and future goals. If I get a legitimate followup, I'll feel much better and less like an idiot for falling for it! Doesn't the government follow up on these buisnesses to see if they are legit?
- KateCount me in as another who fell for this scam. I spoke with a person named Matt who told me it would take 25 minutes to complete the call which included verifying information on my resume. As soon as he found out that I am in grad school he ended the call. Definitely a scam. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

- B replies to DShe said the same thing to me and it took about 3 minutes. She asked about 3 questions and automatically accepted me for the position.
I have called headquarters and emailed them..no response! - AliciaEverytime I checked indeed.com for receptionist/front desk positions, there were always several posts from Sterling. I was skeptical at first, but being down on my luck, I decided to go for it. The number it gave me was (888) 674-5359. I haven't placed the call yet since I'm scheduled for tomorrow. However, after reading the many comments on here attesting to the scam of this company, I am definitely not going to follow through with it.

- LeecaMy text was to call 888-907-0372 about an HR job I applied for online. I am sitting in a coffee shop ready to call them but decided to do a Google check on Sterling Placement first. Thank goodness I found you all! Since I have a Masters degree and do not want to further my education, I am now going to call them and waste their time! Game on!

- I Hate Fakes!!I never went so far as to "apply" for the job I was interested in through Sterling Placement, but I was curious as to why I could not find an office location in my area for this company. They emphasized the importance of a personal sit down one on one interview with each candidate. How can that be done successfully on the phone? Someone else commented that he would never again trust a placement agency that he could not walk into. I'm in total agreement on that. It puzzled me also that there was no employer information or other means of finding out who was actually posting this job. I'm grateful for Google and all of the information I have found here. Thanks so much for giving me the heads up before I actually set up the all important but actually "bogus" interview. My call would have been disconnected immediately as well. Technology is a great thing, but so often, it cannot be trusted.
- SuzI too was interested in job posting at one web site which took me to Sterling Placement. I filled out the online questions and submitted my resume to Sterling. I had to then schedule an appointment time, which I did. I then did research on Sterling Placement and came across several sites such as this about Sterling being a fake or fraud. So needless to say I will not be calling them back at the scheduled interview time. I did send text "stop" to unsubscribe the number that showed up was 888-907-7147 I called the number and it was answered by automated system as "Sterling Placement". Don't think I am going to follow through with the interview phone call. Thank you and good luck to all job seekers.
- Evette65If you see this company post job employment opportunities, they are absolutely a scam. The FTC is coming down on these types of companies, but we all need to report them. Go to https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and file a complaint against them

- ESWLike many others, I am glad I found this website when I Googled Sterling Placement. After applying to one of their Office HR Assistant jobs, I mulled over the fact that their posted salary of $18-$20/hr for this admin/clerical position was too good to be true.
I doubt they will call me after seeing my resume, but it's helpful to know that this company is bogus. I am also glad I have a Google Voice number and can screen all incoming calls. - annoyedI was suspicious about this sterling agency, it never ask me to up load my resume or anything. The only sad thing is that its link its bs website to legit website like voiceapplied and indeed.com. Dont waste your time on this its a scam....

- LoriI wish I had read this before I applied for the position. I blocked them from my email. I got the job listing from Sterling Placement from Job.com so I blocked that too. They called here but I didn't answer and I also blocked their number from the phone too. Now I'll just have to watch my email and see what the fallout is going to be but I'm really angry about these scams and wish the government would do more to protect the unemployed worker.
