When Nat'l City sold their stuff to Green Tree, it became ridiculous.  They (Green Tree) refuse to accept new information regarding reduced property taxes which affect escrow amounts.  This would reduce our escrow $300 per month, but THEY REFUSE TO EVEN RESPOND!!!  They NEVER respond to any correspondence, and today is five days past due and we received a call from "Gary, a debt collector" who is threatening immediate action.  Seriously, Gary????  Our payment is already out of our bank and floating in cyberspace to get in your hands, rightfully so.  Wish we our mtg never got sold to these losers.  I would hate to be on the other end of the calls- surely there is something more enjoyable for them to do with their lives......?????

Several years ago our home loan was sold to these loan sharks. It's been a nightmare. They call before its due and heaven help you when you are late. They are verbally abusive and always make threats. "Get us the money today or start moving out tomorrow".   They call family an neighbors. They call at work even when they've been told not to. They know the Fair Debt law doesn't really apply to home loans and don't care anyway.

They bought my second morgage and im in a modification on my first due to illness. Do no take crap from these jerks. Lady was all full of bold stuff to say and i kept calm i said no. Do what u need to do why would i pay u if my first is not completed yet? I listened to the threats and repeated 5 x No. Ur not getting a dime till my first is worked out. This is the best'''' 3 days later got a settlement offer for half of what i owed. My first is with the same as was my second,they sold second to Green tree and just i calmly told them no. So the peson made more threats and i asked what number i could call her back on she said we have no call back number ur dealing with me. I said ok where and what state are u in im coming to see u face to face, Phone calls stopped. they are like collecton co they cant do a thing but try to collect. Ignore them until ur ready to handle it. Case closed!!

i have the same prob but they do have a web site to make payments also i do bill pay at the bank.but i think if your late you cant pay on line

I add all of their numbers in my phone under the name of GT1 or GT2. I won't be surprised if I have to go to GT3 with some many different numbers. I then change the ringer for GT1 and GT2 to No Ring. So it comes through and doesn't ring. I told them I have my payment set up with my bank to pay them by the 13th and I'm not going to talk to them every month until the 13th. Live with it...

What you said is exactly what they do to me. And what really sucks is that if you tell them that you will mail the check. They come up with the excuse that it may not show up in time, so pay the $12 fee so they can stop harassing you. I think I have made many extra payments if they totalled the 12 fee for the last 9 years

If you guys think GT is bad now, you should see how they are if they forclose on you. (Not that I wish that on ANYONE!)  My hubby left me and I couldn't afford my house payment anymore. I was lucky enough to get a 3-month deferment, but then found out later that I was only approved for 2 months.  Problem is, no one bothered to tell me this until I became late again, thinking I had another month before a payment was due.  To make a long story short, I was literally called a liar.  I mean that the woman actually said the words "You are a liar" when I told her that I had been told I had a 3 month deferment.  Through a lot of ugly phone calls and research, she ended up having to apologize to me, because I had been correct.  It didn't matter though. That started the whole chain of events that led to my foreclosure.  I am not putting the blame on GT for this.  If you don't/can't pay your mortgage, your house gets forclosed. That's just a sad fact of life.  What hurt me so much was the way it was handled.  I am a single mom of 2 little ones.  I have no family and had nowhere to go.  They MADE me get out of my house by a certain date (they said they didn't have to call the sheriff, etc, I just had to go)  With the help of friends, we packed up my house in one day and put the contents in a barn.  Just about everything has been ruined, including priceless items that had belonged to my parents, just because I had to be out.  (Which again, is not their fault, that was my poor choices at the time, due to desparation).  But, here's the kicker....It's been almost a year that I've been out of my house, staying at different friends' places, trying to get back on my feet...my house is still sitting there. It has not been touched.  It's getting destroyed!  They just had to kick us out, just to be cruel, and the house is just sitting there.  Wouldn't it have been better for them to work with me, to get me on a payment plan, than to just let the house get destroyed?  Now the house is pretty much worthless.  They lost money just to be cruel.  Good luck to you all!!

Green Tree it's the worts bank that you can chose ,there's a nigth mare they don't stop calling every day like 6 times a day or more sometimes

GMAC did an evaluation of second mortgage loan balances plus first mortgage loan balances against the new devalued value of your home and sold large packages of second mortgages and firsts even as what the industry terms as toxic loans to Green Tree for literally 2 to 20 cents on the dollar. Green Tree knows that being a nice reputable company will not allow them to survive, so they assume a debt collector attitude to harass people into paying on the toxic loans. This behavior sadly works as long as you don't have a choice. They have a lot less to loose than your business, because if you refi, they make out like bandits. Be aware of your rights to legal counsel and rights under the freedom of information act to obtain information about the sell of your loan to Green Tree in detail! You should know what price they paid for your loan, and consider getting legal advice about how to deal with them. No, I'm not an attorney, but have provided financial counseling to hundreds over the years.
You may seek legal advice about how to settle the toxic loan they bought as well. Remember to be careful about your credit score as well, if you need it.

Green Tree thinks they are immune from our right to freedom of speech and of peaceful demonstration and assembly.
Try assembling or demonstrating at one of these addresses: (For those in the areas where only the po box is listed, you can search for state business licences, rental or deed holder information for business addresses, local listings, internet searches, etc... I am sure you can find the physical address. You can protest with the same language and mannerisms that they use with you on the phone. It would be fun to record their rants and then invite the press to your protest and play their calls over loud speakers blaring at them as they go in, out for lunch, out for a smoke, to go home, etc... Pretty soon those who see our displeasure on their news programs when they go home for dinner, with their faces exposed, and their own language thrown back at them will either quit, stop, or close shop. (keep reading for other interesting ideas) Make sure you remain passive and peaceful but loudly and proudly protest!

I did a search on LinkedIn after signing up with the same level of representative naming convention they use when identifying themselves - you know what I mean, right? I found about 679 results in my advanced search for people currently working for a company with the name Green Tree in it. Now folks, please be careful you don't harass the hard working honest landscaping guys who have a bad brand for their tree trimming/care company. However, I am sure you will love the many that are currently working in all levels of senior management that have their profiles on LinkedIn, in fact if you get calls months or years after you've dealt with them, you could consider the over 1,500 who used to work their but no longer do, actually 1,500 includes the 679 current. Now that probably wouldn't be nice, but after you run out of the 679 you might get bored.
Or you could report the Green Tree company page on Facebook that only 21 people in the world like.
There are only 10, yes Ten results for "I work at Green Tree" on the entire WWW!
Nobody on myspace admits to it. C'mon folks get creative to find these folks and confront them peacefully with your displeasure!

Due to extreme financial difficulties I am currently behind on my mortgage.
Even though I am behind I send a payment every month to the local office so the payment is received within one day. I sent a payment yesterday and payment would be in this morning’s mail.
This morning I received calls at 8:07AM, 8:16AM, 8:25AM, 8:38AM at this time I’m completely feed up and answer, I inform the women, “you have called me FOUR times this morning please STOP HARRASSING ME! I mailed a payment to Jacksonville office yesterday.” She states I am calling from Jacksonville, and we do not have a payment, and we are going to continue to call you. I hang up the phone. She continued to call me THREE more consecutive times 8:39AM, 8:40AM, and 8:41.
Green Tree DOES NOT care if you are having difficulties; all they want is a payment RIGHT NOW!!!

GT is just like owing the Mafia. They even threaten to send Guido to visit, or at least that's what one GT employee told my teenage daughter at one time. I lost my job in April 2010 and it took me several months to find a new job. While I was out of work my husband and I lived off his income and my retirement, for which we now owe the IRS. While I was working for a local county office for 10 years we got paid once a month, at the end of the month. I repeatedly asked for them to move my payment from the 15th to the 1st so I could pay on time, this request was repeatedly denied. So for the 10 years I was employed my payment was 2 weeks late because I couldn't afford to pay 2 payments in order to pay ahead so I could continue to pay on the 1st. Now I am only making about 1/2 what I used to and we can not afford all of our bills in the same month. I am currently behind and have a deferment pending but they are still calling. I don't know what to do anymore.

Greentree-- aka collection business--  If you want to get rid of them, like I have thus far, it takes a ton of patience.  

First off never ever answer or return their phone call.  They started out using an auto caller and it would leave a recorded message.  I set up my phone to send their number to voice mail. It was rare they called more than once a day although sometimes they might try 2 times but never on Sunday.

Now don't pass out but this went on for around 3-4 months.  In fact it got to the point where I would guess what time of day they would call.  Latest call I reveived was around 8:30PM.  After these months went by then they went to real time calls with an actual person leaving the message.  Since I have never and will never answer or call back they have dropped down to maybe one or two calls a week now.  Actually today is one week since they called last.

I started to change my number but also knew they could get my new cell number just like they did the first time so decided to wait them out and see what happened.  The most important thing, as I said, is to not talk to them at all.  They deal with debts that are older than most of their employees I believe.  Good luck.

Have been dealing with them for 15 yrs. The automated calls start the day after your payment was due. Sometimes 3, 4 and 5 calls a day, all automated. If they cannot reach you with one number of theirs, they use another one. Have even had them call people with the same last name and harass them for info. Have gotten calls at 9 pm.
I guess either transfer to another company or pay them off sooner to stop the harassment. Would not suggest them to anyone.
