We got a call from a blocked number that left this as a callback. The caller asked to speak to a person we did not know, so we ignored the call.

A week or so later we got another call. This time there was a threat of papers being served. We called the number cited above, and the answering machine message says 'You have reached American.' Did not say American WHAT, just American.

I got to speak to a person who calls himself Talbert. He was very coy about telling me what his company does. I asked if it was a collection agency, and he comes back with "If you want to think that, fine." I asked him if he was CIA or a drug cartel. he refused to answer, citing 'privacy'. I asked if he meant 'privacy' for his victims or himself. In a moment of accidental honesty, he admitted he was protecting himself. Nothin' but class.

At that point, I told him to never call my house again and hung up.

Can some one tell me if American is fake or not. They say going to sue me I do not pay this loan I had.
