- Dee| 3 repliesSeveral family members have received calls room spoofed numbers with a voicemail stating they are calling from my local county’s process serving office in regards to an undeliverable summons in my with a bogus case number.
I did a search on my county’s magistrate court website and there is no lawsuit in my name with the case number left in the voicemails. The voicemail states the attorney on the case is Darcy Smith and she can be contacted at this number. However, were I initially called, a guy picked up, didn’t identify himself or the name of the place I called. He just said “ please hold” before putting me on hold for several minutes. When he came back to call, he asked for the case number, which I didn’t have with me at the time, so he asked for a phone number that had been contacted about the case. I gave him my dad’s phone number and he then placed me on another extended hold before some woman picked up the phone. She asked me if I was •my name• and I told her I wasn’t verifying anything until I knew who she was. She gave me the name of a law firm, but she was speaking so fast she I didn’t have a pen or paper to jot it down. It was Sanderson and blah blah something. She then began reciting my date of birth, last 4 of my social, and my address then asked if that info was correct. I told her again I wasn’t verifying anything and that I already checked the courts and there’s no such suit against me. I asked what this is about and she said the case will not show up in a search because I haven’t been served yet, but they will send the summons to the address they have on file (which they previously said was undeliverable), and I will find out when I have to go to court. She muttered something about wage garnishment for fees due and then hung up on me.
I’ve called back no less than 15 times asking to speak with that person again, but I’ve been hung up on repeatedly , place on hold indefinitely (currently on hold for the last 53 minutes), or my number gets blocked and I call from a new one (thanks TextNow). The same guy who picks up each time I’ve called says they are having phone issues. They’re really committed to this scam because he always picks up and is never rude no matter how many times I’ve called. I can’t get the b*tch who hung up in my face back on the phone though.- Caller: Supposed county process server

- Dinah replies to DeeSame except I simply blocked the number. I know it is a scam, a common one. I got the same VM as you and immediately blocked the number.
The court system doesn’t work this way. I suggest all delete their messages and block them. - post pending moderator approval

- DocMy son encountered this same scam. What I cannot figure out is how they know the details about old debts! They wanted $1700 to let the whole thing go, and not have him served in Forsyth County. The person said he was an attorney named John Welby, with the Law Group in Winston Salem, NC. There is no attorney listed with the NC Bar with that name. Called the number three times, and encountered the same message to please leave number, case file number, etc.
- Caller: Said they were the Law Group
