- Greg MI received a letter from ConServ in the mail on Saturday, 1/9/2021. It was a collection for a $30,000 civil penalty. I had never received any communication from the IRS about this debt. I called the phone number and spoke with an agent. He purports to have received the collection from the IRS in Dec 2020. I have an tax court case against the IRS for this same year that has $0 for civil penalty. I have an open CDP (Collection Due Process - this is supposed to prevent the IRS from collecting anything without the proper process) that I filed 1-1/2 years ago and has still not been assigned to an agent. Either this collection agency is fraudulent or the IRS is not following the processes it's supposed to. Read the book 'Cracking the Code' by Peter Eric Hendrickson.
