- connie| 1 replyI got a message on my machine and called back. It said that I was being investigated for check fraud. When I called back they said that my phone number wasn't in the data base and hung up on me. Thats when I KNEW it was a scam. Don't ever give info out over the phone!
- Ellen| 3 repliesThey left a message that they tried to serve me with papers and had to return them as undeliverable. that makes no sense. I'm supposed to call this number to try to "settle out of court". Settle what? They apparently haven't tried the US postal service. I get mail. The mail person finds me, How is it that they cannot? Why should I call them when they don't even tell me what this about? No copmpany name, just, "our client". They have to contact me in writing but have not? Why should I call them?

- Denise| 2 repliesYeah.. these jokas called me at work. Left a message stating "We have been trying to serve you papers, we don't want to serve you at work and embarrass you!" WTF! Deliver to where? When? If they can get pass security here.. I'll be surprised!! These people must think we are all just complete idiots!

- Sophie replies to Joe| 4 repliesI got a call from them too but they dont try to get your SS#, if you are the debtor they NEED to verify your information (which they already have, if you are the debtor) , by asking for your last four digits of your SS# that is how they confirm that that is you. Otherwise anyone could pretend to be you & get your information. I personally experienced this. I was hesitant at first but I did take out a loan a couple years back & never paid the original loan company back. I paid off my loan through CMR & I havent gotten a call from ANY collection agencies since. If you are still skeptical I suggest going to their website www.creditmanagementrecovery.com A very nice lady by the name of Lucy directed me to their website to check them out. I was pleased with how professional she was & she was quick to give me the companies information so I see what I was getting into for myself.
- LukeI had a call from a blocked number too, they told me to call that number, when i called i guess i had an unpaid loan from a year or two ago...i even talked to the company who gave me the loan and they confirmed that i was being called to court, thats just me i guess. These people actually arent a scam like i thought

- Mason replies to connieIf you are not the debtor or you are calling from a different number, that you were originally called at, they cannot look random numbers up. I know this because I work at a collection agency but the place I work at is for medical bills. Some people even think we are "scamming" them when clearly, If you were in the hospital and you didnt pay your bill, you owe.
- Mike .. West Virginia replies to Denise| 1 replyHey guys, I had the same feeling, so I called the a few days after recieving the call about paperwork being delivered.... Unfortunatly I was a day late, I phoned them on a saturday, they were not in the office. I went to work monday morning and was approached by a guy that actually had papers from the company that was pursueing me. I should have called in when I got that call. Now I have to deal with the issue. The girl I spoke to was helpful, even tried to contact the peolpe that had my account but could not get it back into there office. Oh well, my fault. The company seemed to be as helpful as they could be, I also thought this was a scam too...at this point, I wish it was !!!!!
- Barbara White replies to Ellen| 2 repliesThe client is the original loan company you took your loan from for example: Advanced America. That is the client. The papers you are referring to cannot be mailed they must be hand delivered per the clients request and it is also very very sensitive information. I wouldn't want someone to get ahold of that information. Would You?
- Luke replies to Mike .. West VirginiaSame here! I received a call on a thursday. I tried calling on saturday but they were actually there that day.. I was fortunate enough to actually avoid court. My attorney called the company and made sure everything was legit they faxed him paperwork immediately and needless to say,I dodged a bullet!!
- Ellen replies to Barbara WhiteI have never had a loanb with any company by that name

- CrystalI got a call from this company yesterday, and they told me that a loan was charged on my old Viewpoint Bank account for $200 that was charged to my account in May 2009. They said that my old address in Allen, Tx that i haven't lived at for 7 yrs was listed on the loan and my account that i had closed from Viewpoint Bank was used and i have never heard of Ventures before and never took a loan out from it. The person on the phone told me that the loan place called Ventures is threatening to sue me for the loan that i never took out. Viewpoint Bank and Ventures has never contacted me and told me anything about Ventures taking money out of my account. The person on the phone told me that i would have to send a police report to them to prove fraud and he told me that if i didn't find a way to either hire an attourney for fraud or pay the difference, i could possibly face up to 2 yrs in jail for a "bad check" and he told me it would be cheaper to pay the difference than to hire an attourney. I accidently made a payment plan for them, not knowing they were a possible scam and i need to find a way to have this company investigated before they take money out of my account. please email me back at sixam6096@yahoo.com if you know anything

- Crystal replies to Joe JuevesThank you so much for posting that website. The man on the phone at the company CMR said that they were a litigation office company and told me that because i refuse to pay the difference of $160.00 from a $200.00 loan i never made, the charges from the loan would go up to over $800 and i could face up to 2 yrs in prison for a bad check and that it would cost anywhere from $700-$800 for an attourney. I filed a complaint with the FTC and they told me that i cannot be arrested for an unpaid loan and even they agree that it's a scam and i even checked my old bank account that the loan was supposedly taken out on and that they said there was no transaction made by PDL Ventures. I even tried to call that loan company to confirm it and the number i found was out of service
- Crystal replies to SophieThat company is BS. The person who called me told me the company CMR was a litigation Office Company and it states on the website it's a debt collector, which means the person who called me from this number gave false info about this company
- CrystalCMR called me back a couple days ago asking me when i'm going to pay them the difference and asked for my bank info. I told them I wasn't paying them anything. The man on the phone was verbally abusive and told me to hold tight to my pillow and hope that i don't get arrested for a bad check. These are some of the biggest morons i've ever spoken to. Even a caveman knows that if someone puts down a closed bank account on a loan application, the loan would be denied. Any loan company would have to be the dumbest on the planet to approve someone for a loan for a closed bank account. I'm just glad i hung up on those jokes the last time they called me and asked for my new bank account info.

- Lisa, NH replies to JoeWe just recieved a call from them via a "Miss Collins" this to me also seems like a sketchy company to say the least. She claimed they were / are a sort - recovery firm (although she couldn't give me the legal term for it, which was strange to say the least) . The INITIAL contact today was to my husband's workplace! Now usually a debt collector - regardless of being an initial, second or third party agency, will contact first via a letter sent US Post. She couldn't tell me the name of the credit agencies which supposedly previously attempted, supposedly NUMEROUS times and when we (I called her back cause my hubby was PISSED after being contacted at work!) requested the name of the company who she was collecting for, it was Advance America Payday Loans. Now this type of loan in ILLEGAL in the State in which we live - and was at the time she claimed the contract was signed!! As a matter of fact, about a month following the date the supposed document was signed, the company up and closed all branches in the State to avoid prosecution. She wlso said it was "against company policy" to send documentation of attempt to collect a debt letter via the US post but rather she could "email" one to me, which is often considered to not be legally binding in court. Although she knew a lot about our information (including names of relatives and former neighbors) she did not have our current address, phone numbers and also asked for an SSN, which I refused to provide, of course...Also when I called her back, instead of answering from a direct extension line that she hesitantly gave my husband - she answered the main phone number - she did not provide the address of her company... Can't WAIT to see the "notification" we recieve via email !! Will post when we do ....
