- lonnie13I received a call from that number last night. The man identified himself as Gary Foster. I didn't catch the company name, but he was selling some type of windows for houses. When I politely told him "No thank you, we're not interested" he immediately hung up on me.

- ConsumerAmerican Lenders Service Company, headquarters in Odessa, Texas, sells debt collection franchises. Take a look here at their web site: http://www.americanlenders.com/
Anyone with two nickels to rub together can 'buy' a share of the name and a handful of erroneous portfolios and go to town on them. On their website, you'll notice that this toll free number, 877-872-5720, is the phone number for a 'franchise' in Crystal City, TX.
This sort of debt collection franshising has been outlawed elsewhere in the US. In NY state, despite what personal flaws he had, Eliot Spitzer, when he was AG, closed up a number of these outlaws, particularly in the vicinity of Buffalo, NY. Texas seems to be behind the times.
Importantly, along with reports to the FTC and appropriate AGs, I'd also include a criminal complaint with your local law enforcement. That's what I did. It's just my guess, but I'm thinking that there's a good chance that the money used to buy these portfolios could be tied up with Mexican drug cartel money.- Caller: American Lenders Service Company

- consumerThe lady who called said she sells siding & windows for house repairs. She called me by name & when I asked her how she got this number she said it was public info.... I am not the owner of this house nor is the landline in my name. I dont ever give out his number. Creepy!
- Caller: NORTHWEST..something
- ConsumerAmerican Lenders has done a pretty good job of hiding their address - this makes it harder to sue them. But, I've got a mailing address for the Crystal City franchise:
American Lenders- Crystal City
P.O. Box 6618
Eagle Pass, TX 78553
This isn't as good as having a physical location, but it will still work. The The USPS will still need a signature on the receipt with the summons (for law suits) but that's workable - the USPS leaves the receipt in the PO Box and the client (American Lenders Service) sends a representative to sign and accept the subpoena. It takes a little longer without a physical address, but it still works.- Caller: American Lenders Service

- ConsumerAfter a couple of months of hang ups from these yoyos, and a complaint filed with my local AG which went unanswered, they have stopped calling. I would suggest to anyone out there who is getting hang ups from this outfit to file a complaint with you local AG. It seems to be all it takes to scare these people off.

- ConsumerIt looks like these guys routinely find themselves as defendants in law suits. Gee, I wonder why...not.
